Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Area Control Centre Operations (MACCO), the Speciality Manager is accountable for the delivery of safety, service, budget, staffing and stakeholder relations within the assigned High, Low or ICAO specialties within an ACC. Speciality Managers are accountable to the day of operation Shift managers at the ACC, to ensure staff are available to run the operation for the day. Specialty Managers are accountable to ensure staff are qualified meeting licensing and medical requirements, the speciality is staffed to requirements, schedules and leave are managed in accordance with national guidelines to ensure contiguous national network operations.

In this role you will:

- Ensure continuous safety, service and quality of services provided within the area of responsibility in collaboration with the speciality supervisors, UPS and MAQS.
- Evaluate daily service readiness and delivery performance and report performance to the MACCO
- Assist Speciality Supervisors for immediate interpretation of ATSAMM, MATS, CARs requirements and elevate the request for interpretation if required
- Conduct follow up and closure to reported operating irregularities, ARGUS and other SMS reports and processes
- Develop and implement corrective action plans to address any site deficiencies in accordance with the SMS program
- Identify trends in local service delivery to improve safety and service
- Identify, plan and direct implementation (in partnership with ANS Technology Services, ATM Engineering, CNS Engineering, Technology Infrastructure, ATS Standards and ATS Learning) of speciality maintenance, improvements and ATS technologies that contribute to resource and service improvements
- Accountable to execute speciality OSH, site security, emergency response plans, business continuity plans and hazard prevention programs and services when needed
- Build and brief daily operations plans to be used by Supervisors when Shift Managers are not present.
- Participate in and implement results of airspace studies to ensure proper level of service
- Manage speciality operations within the defined budget
- Support ATS Standards by ensuring staff meet all licensing, medical and proficiency requirements required for their positions.
- Support ATS Learning in the delivery and support of on-site training initiatives and programs to meet qualification, staffing and regulatory requirements

- 3 years of leadership experience managing a diverse team
- Knowledge and understanding of the aviation industry
- Knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Air Navigation System and Air Traffic Management
- Ability to foster a climate conducive to an engaged workforce by promoting company values of respect, excellence, and service
- Demonstrated ability of strong time management and judgement to prioritize multiple tasks of varying urgency
- Ability to manage large, complex initiatives
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
