**Salary range: $51,614 - $61,865**

This is an exciting time to join the Research Manitoba team as we take our organization to a new level. Funded by the Manitoba government Department of Economic Development and Jobs, Research Manitoba promotes, supports, and coordinates the funding of research excellence and innovation in health, natural and social sciences, engineering, and the humanities in Manitoba.

We are looking for a standout _**Program Officer **_to work in conjunction with other members of the programs team to administer the portfolio of grants for Research Manitoba and support reporting activities to the Department of Economic Development, Investment, and Trade. The Program Officer will also support the efforts of Research Manitoba’s CEO and Board of Directors efforts build strategic partnerships that will strengthen Manitoba’s research and innovation enterprise. Primary tasks range from grants management to reviewing and analyzing funding requests while actively contributing to the organization's overall growth and strategic development.

Research Manitoba is also a key player in making history in research innovations in Manitoba, creating a unique and new provincial system, the Research Improvements through Harmonization in Manitoba (RITHIM) which will streamline the review processes of ethics, privacy, and organizational impact necessary to conduct health research in Manitoba. RITHIM will make it faster and easier to conduct health research in Manitoba and will attract talent and research dollars, contribute to economic growth and recovery, and give Manitobans access to world-class cutting-edgeresearch. RITHIM will launch in 2023.

**The primary purpose of the role**

Reporting to the Director, Strategy and Programs, the Program Officer will work in conjunction with other members of the programs team to administer the portfolio of grants for Research Manitoba, and support reporting activities to the Department of Economic Development, Investment, and Trade, including the development of our annual report. The Program Officer plays a key role serving as the main contact for researchers and funding partners, building relationships and partnerships that strengthen Manitoba’s research and innovation enterprise.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Serve as a main point of contact for program funding partners including but not limited to CancerCare Manitoba, CHRIM, CHI, Lung Association Manitoba, and the Health Sciences Centre Foundation.
- Undertakes a preliminary review of all submitted proposals to ensure they are complete and liaises with applicants as needed.
- Assists in coordinating review committee meetings and serves as the main point of contact for reviewers.
- Assists in coordinating the recruitment of review committee chairs and members.
- Ensures that program material, new information, and procedures are communicated and made available to the review committee members.
- Communicates effectively orally and in writing with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Works collaboratively with reviewers, staff, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with program goals.
- Work in collaboration with other Research Manitoba teams, including Evaluation and Impact with program requests as required and Communications with announcements, researcher profiles, and the annual report.
- Prepares meetings minutes for the Research Advisory Committee.
- Manage and monitor HelpDesk requests.
- Provides technical assistance to grant applicants as needed.
- Plan and execute program activities in a timely and accurate manner.
- Develop best practices to improve overall program performance.
- Conduct program reviews, update program material on an annual basis, and prepare reports for management as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Required Qualifications**:

- An undergraduate degree in education, health sciences, administration, arts, or natural/ social sciences required. Completed or in-progress Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a related organization.
- A demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to achieve strategic objectives.
- Self-motivated and able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- An understanding of the research process and its role in informed decision-making. Experience conducting research is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage competing timelines.
- Experience working with key stakeholder groups such as government, not-for-profits, research institutions, academia, and industry.
