**Your Opportunity**
- Under the supervision of the Coordinator, Trades Support, with direction from the Trades Department Chair(s) and/or Program Administrator(s), the Toolroom Attendant provides exceptional support and assistance to instructors and students in the Trades programs by issuing tools, equipment, and materials to students, maintaining tool room inventories, maintaining and repairing tools and small equipment, procuring program materials including processing and reconciling packing slips, web requisitions, credit card statements, credit memos, and invoices, and administering first aid as required. May provide support and assistance by monitoring students and the shop area.**Functions and Duties**
- 1. Responsible for daily issuance of materials to students in an efficient and courteous manner including, but not limited to, tools, equipment, tags, toolboxes, and lockers and ensuring items are returned accordingly. Maintains record of individual tool inventories, master combinations, and student and staff loaned tools and equipment for each class.- 2. With direction from the Health & Safety department, ensures that fire, WHIMIS, and OHS practices are followed, ensures safety devices are properly installed and utilized on all tools and small equipment. As needed, completes toolbox safety meeting(s) with vendors delivering or performing work onsite as well as completes shop inspections. May provide support and assistance by monitoring students and the shop area.- 3. Acts as primary first aid attendant by providing first aid, as appropriate, to staff and students, maintaining first aid supplies, tidying up after a first aid call, submitting first aid report(s), and liaising with the Health and Safety department regarding incidents, additional cleaning, and restocking of supplies.- 4. Controls and maintains permanent inventory and record of tools, equipment (capital and non-capital), and consumable items. Marks tools and equipment for departmental identification. Tracks any stolen, lost, or loaned equipment and/or materials and advises on status accordingly.- 5. Maintains, repairs, and overhauls small equipment including, but not limited to, hydraulic and hydraulic-testing equipment; electrical tools and lab equipment; basic electronic and testing equipment; pneumatic tools and equipment; hand tools; welders; sanding machines; jointers; and basic shop equipment. Maintains a preventative maintenance program for all tools and small equipment. As needed, may make recommendations on maintenance requirements for all tools and equipment.- 6. By projecting operational requirements for class(es), sources quotes, procures, and assembles capital and non-capital materials accordingly in liaison with the Department Chair(s), Program Administrator(s), instructor(s), local vendors, and Purchasing department. Maintains and updates vendor catalogues for purchase orders. Prepares and submits web requisitions through online Web Requisitioning platform (FAST).- 7. Submits invoices and credit memos through the electronic approval system (Etrieve) tracking status of submitted financial documents. Updates electronic purchase log(s) with invoice, credit memo, web requisition, and VISA information and amounts. Reconciles credit card statements monthly. Follows up with Accounts Payable, Trades Financial Analyst, Purchasing department, and/or vendors regarding outstanding financial documents.- 8. Prepares invoice(s) for shop materials, used by staff and students, and student toolboxes by listing cost of item(s) and calculating tax(es) for payment processing by Trades and Apprenticeship office. In collaboration with instructor(s), Trades Client Services Assistant(s), and Central Stores, confirms student request and payment for toolboxes and delivery to Regional campus(es), if needed.- 9. Participates in budget meetings with the Department Chair(s) and Trades Management team providing an update on the status of the department material budget(s) and procurement.- 10. Ensures shop is prepared for class(es) by maintaining and cleaning the toolroom area and shop space, opening and closing the shop area, ensuring program materials, including but not limited to tools, consumable materials, and toolboxes, are prepared prior to start of class, arranging for cleaning and repair of protective clothing, and starting up and shutting down equipment, such as welders and compressors.- 11. Prepares and submits work orders to the Coordinator, Trades Support for work requiring completion by the Trades Technician and/or Trades Compound Attendant. As required and assigned, may assist with or complete work order(s).- 12. In absence of the Trades Compound Attendant, operates forklift, accepting, off
