**Your Opportunity**
- Under the supervision of the Coordinator, Trades Support, with general direction from the Trades Department Chairs and/or Program Administrators, the Trades Compound Attendant is responsible for ensuring that the Trades’ storage buildings and compounds, on all campuses, are kept in an orderly fashion, the correct disposal of items based on material, following safety and environmental guidelines, and the pick-up, delivery, and transportation of training aids, equipment, parts, and program materials from suppliers and between all Trades campuses. The Trades Compound Attendant will also operate forklift(s) as needed acting as the primary receiver and off-loader of all deliveries to all Trades shop(s). As required, and in the absence of, assists the Trades Technician with maintenance of large equipment. Administers first aid as required.**Functions and Duties**
- 1. Responsible for ensuring the Trades’ storage buildings and compounds, on all campuses, are kept in an orderly fashion, including the reorganization of racking inventory, as required. Ensures inventory is appropriately loaded onto racking according to proper procedure and load limits. Reports any damaged racking to the Coordinator, Trades Support. Visits each regional Trades campus at least once a month or as needed.- 2. Ensures the correct items are disposed of in the appropriate bin based on material (i.e., correct metal type is placed in steel bin), scrap bins in the yard are regularly emptied, and garbage, wood, and recycling cans are relocated as needed.3. Operates forklift(s) as required, conducting a daily safety and maintenance checklist on forklift(s) prior to operation. Provides completed forklift logs to the Coordinator, Trades Support reporting any required maintenance. Acts as primary receiver accepting, off-loading, and accounting for deliveries to all Trades shop(s).- 4. With direction from the Health & Safety department, ensures that fire, WHIMIS, and OHS practices are followed within Trades’ storage building and compounds. Facilitates safe and environmentally legal removal and disposal of all hazardous materials and waste for all Trades programs. As needed, completes toolbox safety meeting(s) with vendors delivering or performing work onsite.- 5. Responsible for the pick-up, delivery, and transportation of training aids, equipment, parts, and program materials from suppliers and between all Trades campuses. Participates in the Rotating Trades move and other programs moves, including the tear-down, loading, transportation, and setup of materials and equipment. As required, responsible for the safe operation and return of Trades Fleet Vehicle or rental vehicle.- 6. Carries out snow removal, as required, within the Trades compound(s) including but not limited to the front of the shop doors and entrances, storages areas, scrap bins, dumpsters, laneways, sea cans, and racking shelves.7. Sources, quotes, procures, and assembles capital and non-capital material for Kelowna Trades Sampler programs in liaison with Program Administrator, Program Coordinator, instructor(s), local vendors, and Purchasing department. Prepares and submits web requisitions through online Web Requisitioning platform (FAST). Submits invoices and credit memos through the electronic approval system (Etrieve) tracking status of submitted financial documents. Follows up with Accounts Payable, Trades Financial Analyst, Purchasing departments, and/or vendors regarding outstanding financial documents.- 8. As needed, and in the absence of, assists the Trades Technician with maintenance of large equipment in the Trades and Apprenticeship Portfolio at all campuses, cleaning and emptying extractors in all Trades shops and campuses, and preparation and assembly of props for class. As required and assigned, may assist with or complete work order(s).- 9. In absence of a Toolroom Attendant, acts as first aid attendant by providing first aid, as appropriate, to staff and students; maintaining first aid supplies, tidying up after a first aid call, submitting Health and Safety first aid report(s), and liaising with the Health and Safety department regarding incidents, additional cleaning, and restocking of supplies.- 10. May provide support and assistance by monitoring students and the shop area, opening and closing the shop area, including starting up and shutting down equipment.
