Clinical Transformation Nursing Unit Assistant

**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Clinical Transformation Nursing Unit Assistant provides assistance to designated units and support with the implementation of Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) and/or Clinical Documentation Activation. This role functions as part of the Clinical Transformation Team (CTT).
The Clinical Transformation Nursing Unit Assistant will provide support leading up to, during and after CPOE/iHealth activation in all South Island acute facilities. The Clinical Transformation Nursing Unit Assistant will actively engage in learning sessions for workflow reviews, skill sharpeners and associated practice changes via formal and informal sessions. The Clinical Transformation Nursing Unit Assistant will attend CPOE Readiness meetings and share resources and updates with other health care team members. This position will help acute care teams prepare for the upcoming go-live of CPOE by providing support to admin staff, track common issues and escalate problems, workload support, as well as supporting issue resolution and system trouble-shooting alongside the iHealth team. This position involves collaborative efforts with clinical teams and leadership, serving as a knowledgeable guide to provide insights on new features or modifications to existing program workflows. The Clinical Transformation Nursing Unit Assistant will also perform a variety of clerical duties related to the operation of a patient care area, such as acting as a communication link for the Unit, communicating with other departments and hospitals, coordinating patient appointments, receiving and directing visitors, telephone answering, and performs keyboarding and data entry responsibilities.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. If applicable, transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and the incumbent must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Grade 12, medical terminology and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard 50 w.p.m.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
