Here is what you will be doing:
Leadership and Project Management- Provide strategic leadership to the unit’s more complex, high profile and larger projects or operations related to cancer screening, prevention, cancer programs, palliative and end-of-life care, education and equitable access. Activities include conceptualization, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of program-related strategies and initiatives that may span the department.- Lead and collaborate with the program staff, project team, working groups, committees, and colleagues involved in development of policy papers, project management plans, analyzing and developing planning strategies and initiatives; prepare analyses, briefings, reports and presentations on Indigenous initiatives.- Resolve issues by providing innovative, creative and integrated solutions that will achieve quality improvements and improve cancer outcomes with and for Indigenous communities.- In managing projects, works in a self-directed manner as defined within the overall context of Ontario Health’s Strategies, while ensuring the Manager is connected to the work.- Manage engagement risk and address challenging issues, managing scope of the projects, and taking early action to resolve problems.- Responsible for meeting objectives and achieving long-term desired results in all areas of responsibility.

Subject Matter Expertise- Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of the First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous Cancer Strategy (2024-28), including facilitating internal and external partner engagement.- Act as an advisor to Ontario Health’s Cancer Screening Programs and other screening initaitives within Ontario Health to ensure they are effective and accessible for Indigenous people in Ontario.- Lead the development and assessment of provincial First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous specific resources, including brochures, infographics, and toolkits - liaising with Indigenous partners to ensure new resources are reflective of community needs and culture.-
- Ability and understanding to incorporate Indigenous cultural values and perspectives into program designs and implementation with and for Indigenous people.- Plan and conduct environmental scans, studies, planning sessions and reviews to collect information on trends, developments, best practices, and innovations which will assist management decision making and business planning activities.- Ensure that existing and emerging policies and programs align with relevant strategies and reflect the needs of Indigenous people, including working in partnership with the Indigenous Health Equity and Coordination unit on engagement with provincial and regional Indigenous stakeholders and adoption of recommendations.- Review, provide insight and make strategic recommendations on provincial and regional Indigenous initiatives and engagements
- ensuring Indigenous priorities and needs are met.

Relationship Management and Facilitation Skills- Hold key relationship management skills in order to effectively progress work with internal and external stakeholders through strong and clear communication and problem-solving skills.- Prepare and present regular updates on the progress of the Indigenous Cancer Strategies and initiatives.- Support engagement between Ontario Health business units and First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous organizations and communities. This includes ensuring business units are properly prepared to meet with Indigenous partners and have direction on culturally appropriate protocols for engagement.- Participate in the development of departmental and business unit goals and objective that flow out of the strategy developed.- Engage with internal and external partners to collaborate on shared priorities that align with provincial First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous partners.- Work with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of analytical/technical experience.

Communication Skills- Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, Indigenous communities and external healthcare organizations.- Understanding and adherence to Indigenous data governance principles in relation to communication of data finding.- Ability to develop and present material for review and informational purposes using excellent written, verbal, and graphical communications skills, with ability to express complex concepts
