**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The Advisor, Employee Health supports the Manager, Prevention & Health Promotion in providing a coordinated VIHA-wide approach to management of services, consistent with the vision, philosophy, goals and values of the Health Authority. The Advisor plans, develops, implements, evaluates and makes recommendations pertaining to employee communicable disease prevention and exposure follow-up. Additionally, the Advisor establishes and conducts employee health clinics, maintains confidential health files, develops and implements employee health promotion and awareness programs, and models Wellness & Safety's vision/philosophy, promotes and fosters open and positive working relationships within all disciplines of Wellness and Safety and the Health Authority.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a recognized and acceptable bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years recent and directly relevant experience. Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing preferred. Current practicing registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives is required.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Demonstrated ability in occupational health nursing program development and implementation.
- Ability to maintain confidences of personnel and health/safety matters
- Ability to work independently and within a team framework demonstrating initiative
- Demonstrated ability to work under time constraints, with multiple priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form
- Ability to interact with others effectively, often in highly charged emotional states
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Use of a personal vehicle to facilitate travel within multi-site organization
