**Group Life & Disability Claims Coordinator **(**_Remote work arrangement)_**
**Job Description**:
As a member of our Group Life and Disability Claims team, your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing group life claims by determining eligibility and medical acceptability in accordance with contractual obligations, exclusions or limitations and other supporting documentation to ascertain completeness and validity of claim. Processing life claim payments, as required.
- Obtaining additional information to aid decision making of group life claims by corresponding in writing or by interviewing to correct errors or omissions on claim forms; and investigating questionable entries; corresponding with Plan Administrators, claimants, the insurer and other departments within OTIP for information on coverage, beneficiary and proof of death.
- Preparing work to be accomplished by setting up and reviewing new claims to ensure all documents have been submitted and completed properly for processing; verifying eligibility; corresponding with appropriate parties for outstanding information.
- Responding to inquiries by telephone or in writing or directs appropriately.
- Reviewing maintenance LTD claims by ensuring ongoing compliance to policy requirements and medical acceptability.
- Resolving problem situations by consulting with the Disability Analysts or management, as required.
**Qualifications**:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in Group Disability and Life Claims insurance.
- Experience with Life Insurance Claims would be a strong asset.
- Experience as a Disability Benefits Coordinator or LTD/Life claims payment specialist would be an asset.
- Proficiency and ability for accuracy; including a strong math aptitude.
- Must demonstrate a high level of organizational ability to plan, prioritize, direct and control workflow.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (ability to communicate in French will be considered an asset)
