What will you work on?

The Lead, Cancer Care Network, provides direct support and oversight for the development and implementation of Cancer Care mandates and strategies led by the Network as well as ongoing leadership for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of various region wide projects and initiatives throughout Interior Health.

The Lead will work closely with leaders from across the Health Authority and key internal and external stakeholders including, aboriginal, medical providers, community partners and BC Cancer to facilitate ongoing collaboration and effective implementation and evaluation of initiatives and activities related to continuous quality improvement for Cancer Care across the care continuum.

The Lead utilizes communication, facilitation, conflict management, and interpersonal skills to carry out the duties and responsibilities. Anticipated outcomes of the work will require systems-thinking and creativity in problem solving to facilitate regional solutions that are collaboratively created, delivered and evaluated. The Lead works both independently and as part of a team; most often in a team leadership role.

The Lead is an expert resource to leaders, staff and physicians on initatives related to the IH Cancer Care Network Work Plan. The Lead is responsible for the coordination and creation of evaluative tools and organizational systems, processes, and practices to improve outcomes within Cancer Care. The Lead develops reports, ensures the timely and effective implementation of decisions, works on specific projects as assigned, and analyzes and prepares information to achieve results in key priority areas.
- Some key duties _
- Provides leadership to the IH Cancer Care Network in the planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive Project Management Plan for Network driven projects and initiatives as outlined in the Network Work Plan.
- Keeps pace with changes by scanning the environment for relevant trends, alignment, and integration opportunities with other portfolios and developments affecting the portfolio’s strategic priorities.
- Leads projects to improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes within the IH Cancer Care Network portfolio ensuring improvements are structured, delivered in a timely manner with measureable targets for improvement.
- Facilitates collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in an effort to achieve shared goals and deliverables.
- Serves as the central contact/resource person related to Network projects and initiatives and resolves arising issues through negotiation and conflict resolution with stakeholders. The Lead will provide a direct link to the BC Cancer - Kelowna team for collaborative implementation of common initiatives particularly those identified in a common work plan.
- Provides leadership for specific initiatives that are region-wide in nature ensuring regional alignment and meaningful collaboration with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Provides research support for best practice and change management initiatives to support improvements.
- Facilitates change by collaborating with the clinical operations team in the development of implementation plans, data/info requirements, performance evaluation measures, quality improvement methodology and communication and engagement strategies to successfully implement projects and initiatives.
- Develops and coordinates a process for managing the preparation and maintenance of all status reports, design of reporting templates, compilation and analysis of data and information; monitors project and/or system change progress; identifies barriers and missed milestones; and researches issues and best practice.
- Builds relationships with key stakeholders to plan future service delivery models, including input into business case development and standardized reporting and information sharing.
- Supports the composition of decision briefs and reports at the site, local health area, and Health Authority levels.
- Plans for patient engagement strategies to ensure patient views are considered in service planning.
- Creates communication plans and communicates and presents information clearly and concisely to key stakeholders, physicians, staff, and managers including formal presentations at meetings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
