**Your Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement & AVP, College Relations (ED&AVP), Faculty of Arts & Science, the Director of Development provides leadership in the development and implementation of current and deferred major gift fundraising programs for the Faculty of Arts and Science, including those targeting $100,000+ prospects. As part of the senior management team, the Director of Development provides direction to major-gift campaigns, typically project based, designed to obtain significant donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations.

This Director of Development portfolio will include the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy. The Munk School is an Extra-Departmental Unit within the Faculty of Arts & Science that proudly offers 14 teaching programs in a variety of areas of global and policy expertise. It is home to exceptional faculty, experts and researchers from around the globe, and more than 40 academic centres, labs and initiatives. The goal is to build a unique, world-renowned research, teaching and public impact and engagement hub that shapes the contemporary fields of global affairs and public policy. The School unifies those who are passionate about global affairs and public policy to research, discuss and address the problems of a fast-changing world.

The incumbent cultivates prospective donors, solicits major gifts, and accompanies the ED&AVP on such calls; identifies potential senior volunteers; assists with providing professional advice to the program directors with respect to fundraising strategies and approaches with particular emphasis on stated fundraising priorities and new initiatives including the possibility of overseeing special fundraising projects.

The Director of Development will ensure proper stewardship takes place following a gift to maintain the donor's involvement, interest, and support. The active involvement of key members of the university community and volunteers is essential to the overall success of such a program and as such the incumbent will be expected to effectively interact with faculty, staff, donors, and volunteers.

**Required Qualifications**:
**EDUCATION**:

- A university degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Graduate degree an asset.

**EXPERIENCE**:

- A minimum of seven (7) years of recent and related years of progressively more senior experience in Advancement, preferably in an Educational Institution setting.
- Demonstrated success in major gifts, gift planning, and annual giving fundraising required.
- Experience in strategic fundraising planning and execution.
- Experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset.
- Experience in proposal writing and presentation to donors.
- Experience with data management systems.
- Demonstrated experience and success managing, motivating, and mentoring key stakeholders, bringing out the best in teams and individuals.
- Demonstrated strong client service orientation and experience fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.

**SKILLS**:

- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build new and long-term relationships with prospects, donors, and senor level volunteers.
- Excellent computer skills (e.g. Microsoft office).
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented with a strong follow through.

**OTHER**:
