**Monday to Thursday, 0700-1600**

**Pay Grade 19 - $31.56 to $37.12 per hour**

**Position Summary**
Responsible for managing the intake of video evidence, transportation of evidence, ensuring the continuity of video data evidence via thorough documentation, and using established practices to archive video data.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**
- Manages the intake of video evidence from investigators
- Prioritizes work requests, enters them into the FVU spreadsheet, and liaises with investigators in order to determine priorities
- Contacts investigators directly to ensure completion of forms and other documentation
- Receives and manages video evidence via MOVEit and/or DEMS, for example
- Answers the general phone line for the unit
- Transports video exhibits by VPD pool car and documents chain of custody to and from the Graveley HQ, the Cambie HQ, the Annex, and the Property Office.
- Provides video evidence dubbing for all Operational Sections
- Performs precise vetting of audio and video files as required
- Assists in the compiling and dubbing of analog and digital evidence for presentation in court
- Archives video data using cryptographic hashing and standard forensic procedures
- Prepares optical discs containing video, audio or still image files for court cases
- Able to give evidence in court and maintains a current Curriculum Vitae for court testimony
- Maintains the Forensic Video Unit spreadsheet and compiles statistics as needed
- Researches, identifies, and locates video players and/or codecs needed to play back video evidence
- Assists investigators with viewing video evidence
- Takes meeting minutes and distributes as required
- Reviews and maintains the Forensic Video PRIME workflow
- Is willing to be contacted after hours by the NCO for urgent matters
- Other related duties and responsibilities as directed by the NCO

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**:
**REQUIRED**:

- Knowledge of procedures relating to continuity of evidence and testimony in court
- Strong cross referencing abilities
- Detail and process oriented
- Maintains accurate and organized records and documents
- Proficient using PRIME, Windows11, Microsoft Excel and Word, CABS or IntelliBook
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally at all times
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment
- Ability to perform assigned duties with mínimal supervision
- Ability to view sensitive and disturbing material, while maintaining confidentiality

**PREFERRED**:

- Working knowledge using Avid Media Composer
- Working knowledge using Quick Time, Windows Media Player and VLC,
- Familiarity with AccessDME & QuickDME, PowerPoint, Front Page, Adobe Photoshop, Nero, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition, Virtual Dub, and Audacity
- Familiarity with different digital storage types such as flash memory and external storage devices
- Knowledge of the operation of different analogue recording decks and video recording formats such as (VHS/SVHS) as well as system configuration with time-lapse recorders, multiplexors, and switchers

**EXPERIENCE**:
**REQUIRED**:

- Related video experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Experience with public speaking

**PREFERRED**:

- Worked with video or related technology field in a policing environment

**EDUCATION**:
**REQUIRED**:

- Grade 12 high school diploma
- Completion of a diploma program in video technology or related field

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
- All employees must maintain their Enhanced Security Clearance while employed with the Vancouver Police Department. Enhanced Security Clearances will be renewed every 5 years or as required
- Valid class 5 driver’s license

**SELECTION PROCESS**
- The practical test will account for 60% of overall score
- The interview will account for 40% of overall score
