CRA’s National EE Staffing Strategy strives to eliminate gaps for the four EE designated groups: Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities, and women. As a DF Specialist, you would support the delivery of digital forensic services within the Regional Digital Forensic Centre with activities such as:

- Researching and testing forensic software and tools
- Participating in the development and delivery of training
- Identifying emerging technical and legal issues pertaining to the search, seizure and processing of digital data and its use during the investigation, prosecution and trial, and
- Proposing mitigation strategies to allow CID to successfully navigate identified issues.

This position is planned for a one-year term, with the possibility of being extended or becoming a permanent role. This position is located in the downtown Vancouver area, with on-site presence requirements varying between 2 - 5 days per week, depending on operational requirements.

The pool established from this staffing process may be used to staff similar positions in any CRA office located within the Western Region.

Employees of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) physically working in Greater Vancouver or residing in a reasonable commuting distance from downtown Vancouver.

AND eligible veterans and Canadian Armed Forces members

Qualified members and former members of the Canadian Armed Forces who receive an offer of employment are not entitled to relocation costs from the CRA. They may, however, be entitled to a final relocation from the Department of National Defence.

**Essential staffing requirements**

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements.

**Education**
- the CRA’s minimum education standard for CS - Computer Systems

**AND** one of the following additional requirements:

- A degree in Digital Forensics, or
- A minimum of 50 hours in the last 5 years spent in training related to digital forensics or search and seizure laws pertaining to digital evidence

Proof of Education

**Experience**

Have experience* in:
1) Providing full cycle digital forensic investigative services in a law enforcement context, including:
a) Planning, coordinating and executing search warrants as they relate to digital evidence in complex cases;
b) Activities relating to the recovery and examination of data from seized electronic documents systems in order to use the data as evidence in criminal prosecutions; and
c) Preparing reports of steps taken and results noted during the search, seizure, recovery, decryption, presentation and analysis of data relevant to criminal investigations

2) Providing guidance to technical and non-technical audiences, including:
a) Providing technical and legal guidance to investigators or management on matters relating to search and seizure of digital evidence,

b) Mentoring and providing guidance to other digital forensic analysts, and
c) Preparing and delivering training to technical and non-technical audiences on topics relevant to digital forensics within the law enforcement context.

3) Researching, analyzing, developing and/or recommending protocols or best practices relating to information technology systems, information management systems or digital forensics.
- Experience is associated with the performance of all 3 categories described above as part of the major job duties accomplished at a position within a digital forensics team in a law enforcement context for a period of not less than 5 cumulative years in the last 8 years with the CRA and/or another federa
