**Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team. This is a hands-on role where the work needs to be completed, and many processes and standards need to be initiated and created from scratch. The Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
**Position Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work practices to identify potential hazards and risks.
- Coordinate with department managers to assess and address specific health and safety needs within their areas of responsibility.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on health and safety issues, including training programs, safety equipment, and emergency procedures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of health and safety incidents, inspections, and training activities.
- Stay informed about changes in health and safety regulations and industry standards, and update policies and procedures accordingly.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and other stakeholders to promote safety initiatives and best practices.
- Lead emergency response and crisis management efforts as needed, including coordinating with emergency services and overseeing evacuation procedures.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to health and safety performance and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Travel to various locations in Ontario (Stoney Creek, Goderich, Lakefield, and Johnstown) and Quebec (Montreal) to ensure consistent implementation of health and safety standards.
**Position Qualifications & Specifications**
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or related field.
- Professional designation related to health and safety is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in health and safety management.
- Experience in the dust control sector is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively train and motivate employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proven leadership abilities with a track record of successfully implementing health and safety programs and initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to various locations as needed, access to a vehicle is required.
