**Job Description**:

The Manager, Mental Health & Substance Use is responsible for setting the direction of patient/client care activities, operational planning, human resource management, financial management, education and research for the assigned programs. The position is responsible for development and implementation of care programs, policies and procedures in a manner aligned with the organization's culture, values and strategic direction and ensuring coordination of services with all relevant aspects of Mental Health & Substance Use and other Island Health programs.

The portfolio includes the full range of services provided in the designated community including acute care, addiction services, housing, and psychiatric emergency services.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Baccalaureate degree in relevant discipline. Master's degree preferred. Seven to ten years of relevant management experience, preferably in the Mental Health and Substance Use field. Experience in program redesign. Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health delivery systems.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with people in all levels of health care, government and academia.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines.
- Ability to use various software packages, including Word, Excel, SPSS, NVIVO.
- Ability to maintain website and learn new technology.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
