- Proficiency in English is essential to the performance of the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority non-francophone clients, groups and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

The National Commercial Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing the performance of an individual portfolio through responsible leadership and technical direction based on use of data analytics methods in decision making with respect to product wordings, guidelines, endorsements, pricing and case referrals. Works closely with the Analysts and Product Specialist on analysis, portfolio wordings, reinsurance practices, and auditing of underwriting guidelines. Provides directional leadership on business rules and underwriting guidelines to support management of the portfolio.

**How you will create impact**:

- Manage and enhance efficiency and portfolio performance utilizing data analytics and optimization.
- Accountable for the development of action plans to meet our profitability and growth objectives (budget, loss ratio, expense ratio, financial planning).
- Lead the development and formulation of business rules, underwriting guidelines, appetite and philosophy for the respective portfolio.
- Accountable to support stakeholders with the development and implementation of portfolio initiatives to ensure that gaps are managed, and that change is implemented, reinforced and sustained.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, implement and maintain best practices to secure a profitable portfolio.
- Collaborates with Actuarial Services department for product pricing; manages deviation authority for underwriting and field.
- Determines desired capacity requirements for Reinsurance guidelines and makes recommendations for any changes needed.
- Effectively manages and prioritizes multiple business initiatives, projects and adhoc analysis with key stakeholders. Provides leadership and direction for projects that impact the portfolio.

**To join our team**:

- Having 10 years of experience in an analysis or product environment is preferred.
- Understanding of Property and casualty insurance products is an asset.
- You have a degree in Business, Finance, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or any other relevant domain.
- Having completed the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is required & FCIP is preferred.
- You have thorough knowledge of policy wordings, endorsements, rate manuals, Insurance Acts/legislation (Common Law and Civic Code of Quebec) and tools and systems.
