**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
You are responsible for managing the overall day-to-day Press and Machine Bindery operations by coordinating production and supervising staff in accordance with Lowe-Martin’s policies, SOPs, and applicable laws, as well as ensuring that production goals meet quality standards.
The Manager, Pressroom and Bindery will also be required to assess equipment, processes, scheduling, and staffing in order to maximize productivity and minimize waste and costs.
The incumbent will ensure that all activities are conducted within our Quality Management System.
**JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Coordinate with other departments to maintain production schedules and maintain costs associated to each job;
- Coach employees to improve their productivity; conduct employee assessments and document their contribution and/or achievement of objectives and goals;
- Conduct department meetings;
- Coordinate and manage cross-training and apprenticeship program initiatives to ensure all machines and tasks have at least two operators trained;
- Ensure Preventative Maintenance program and optimum equipment functionality and ensure PM logs are complete and up-to-date;
- Managing the quality and quantity of printed product and perform job approval (sign off) where required;
- Recommend hiring, wage adjustments, changes in status and terminations in the Pressroom/Bindery departments; train or ensure that training occurs for all new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve LM standards for quality, health, and safety and on time delivery;
- Ensure a safe work environment and that all LMG Health and Safety regulations are in full compliance.
**QUALFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES**:
- Working knowledge of all related equipment and processes;
- Strong knowledge of all manufacturing processes as they relate to offset printing. Machine Bindery preferred as well;
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience;
- Good communications skills, both oral and written;
- Strong interpersonal skills: ability to deal with conflict and work under pressure;
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills, professionalism, confidence, and a positive attitude;
- Self-starter that can work with mínimal supervision and able to work effectively with a team;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, continually prioritizing and multi-tasking.
