**Early Childhood Educator - Infant/Toddler**

Oaklands Community Association (OCA) Hamilton Park Childcare Centre offers two outstanding programs for families. Hamilton Park Centre provides both a full-time Infant/Toddler daycare (ages 6m - 36m) and a full-day Preschool program (ages 3-5years). The **Early Childhood Educator **in the **Infant Toddler **program works within a team of Early Childhood Educators with Infant/Toddler specialization and the Childcare Program Manager. This position reports to and is supervised by Childcare Program Manager at Hamilton Park, located at 1487 Hamilton Rd, in the Oaklands Neighbourhood.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Knowledge and adhering to Childcare Licensing regulations, ensuring Licensed Childcare programs consider the health and well-being of all children as its highest priority and follows the VIHA Licensing Guidelines
- Communicate and maintain excellent relations with staff, parents, and outside agencies in a professional manner and with a positive attitude; treat all complaints/concerns with respect
**Teaching**:
- Plan, develop, and implement full day program designed to meet children’s social, physical, intellectual, creative, cultural, emotional and developmental needs in a play-based environment
- Provide opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music
- Build children’s social and interpersonal skills and self-esteem by establishing routines and positive guidance policies that allow children to feel secure, comfortable and safe.
- Assess the developmental level of children
- Create and implement monthly calendars based on interests and planning schedule.
- Create and prepare weekly snack schedule and prepare shopping list for Manager
- Assist in organizing and preparing for family transitions into and exiting your room including cubby space, emergency kits, settling families, etc
- Utilize weekly program planning time
- Attend and contribute to monthly staff meetings that are on a set schedule after normal working hours
**Supervision**:
- Provide supervision and guidance to children during daily activities, outings and special activities
- Adhere to BC Child Care Licensing standards of care and remain compliant to Licensing requirements
- Responsible for contents of Out Trip backpack including making sure emergency cards and pictures are for currently enrolled children as well as contents of first aid remain stocked
- Maintain daycare supplies and equipment and create monthly supply shopping list for Manager
- Assist in housekeeping duties
- Bring any concerns, ideas and questions to Childcare Program Manager
**Conditions of Work**: This position will work in a workspace that can be a noisy and involve regular interruptions by co-workers, families and children. Work in this position involves competing tasks and limited resources.
**Hours of Work**: This is a regular full-time position, working 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, with an unpaid 1-hour lunch break. Hours may vary depending on staff availability and break coverage.
**Compensation**: $24 per hour + the $6 Provincially funded Wage Enhancement Initiative. After the probationary period, this position offers a comprehensive benefit package including extended health and dental, life insurance, pension plan and OCA discount.
**Qualifications**
- A valid B.C. License to Practice as an Early Childhood Educator
- One year experience in a childcare setting in a childcare centre
- Strong understanding of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations Current First Aid/CPR & clean Criminal Records Check
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
