**Purpose**:
The Technical Design Assistant helps to perform the conceptual and detailed design of standard and specialized fan systems and coordinates design, working drawings and specifications in order to successfully and efficiently execute customer projects within specified timelines while meeting customer needs, quality and safety standards.

Support amazing experience of communication, continuous knowledge shared, use internal resources as a team player to meet engineering and manufacturing goals and deadlines with a high level of confidentiality and quality.

This position reports to and interacts with the Designer Supervisor to update, seek guidance and obtain necessary approvals. Key collaboration is within the Engineering Department with mechanical detailing and mechanical engineer positions.

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, employees are also expected to complete other duties as required. All employees are expected to have familiarized themselves with the Health & Safety and Human Resources manuals, work in conjunction with all policies and procedures at Daltec, complete work as assigned to the best of your abilities, including their responsibilities as outlined below.

**Key Position Responsibilities and Duties - w**_**ill include, but not be limited to**:_
- **Design**_
- Use engineering file (project specific), drafting manual and engineering standards to create the required fan components in CAD based program. (SolidWorks, DraftSight).
- Detail/dimension drawings and ensure that the shop can build the desired assembly from the information provided on the drawing.
- Collect drawings and organize each sub-assembly to include the necessary part drawing as part of the package.
- Assemble the shop folder to include all organized drawings along with a general arrangement drawing and any other information the shop may require to build the fan.
- Complete engineering calculations for products.
- Prepare detail drawings in line with project requirements and customer specifications.
- Modify standard product to meet customer requirements.
- **Document Control/Quality**_
- Utilize shop feedback and work with Quality Control to pinpoint specific changes that need to be applied to the design of the fan or the way certain processes are carried out during manufacturing.
- Take information gathered and revise the necessary drawings ensuring that the necessary document control processes are followed and issue to Engineering for release.
- Maintain consistent design drafting standards across projects by communicating expectations and holding project members to account for standards.
- Prepare project support documentation (datasheets, specifications, etc.)
- **Project Management/Process Re-engineering**_
- Review order and project scope (whether product is standard or custom) and prepare a summary file.
- Requisition foreign parts as required.
- Create hardware list for Industrial Engineering.
- Organizing other pre-engineered product lines to reduce the amount of time the project spends in engineering allowing the department to focus on more complicated designs.
- Parameterize standard products.
- **Other Duties**_
- Conducting site visits when necessary to investigate operating problems after fan installation or to gather information for future projects.
- Perform testing on assembled fans or sub-assemblies of fans (bump tests, cross-phase measurement, run-tests and flow tests)
- **Health and Safety**_
- Comply with all of DCBM corporate policies and procedures by adopting DCBM Quality Assurance and Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment policies, procedures and requirements.
- Contribute to a healthy and safe work environment for all employees.
- Report any accidents, injuries or unsafe working conditions to Management immediately.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**_
- Completion of post-secondary education from an accredited educational institution in engineering, engineering technology or a relevant field of study.
- Maintains designation and continuous learning
- **Experience**_
- 1 year experience in a design and detailing manufacturing environment preferred.
- **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**_
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and presentation skills.
- Superior current knowledge of Solid Works, DraftSight and other relevant software.
- Knowledge of machining practices.
- Strong numerical ability with experience in modeling software and proposal preparation.
- Proficient Microsoft Office product knowledge.
- Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in the accumulation and transfer of information.
- Ability to work effectively unsupervised as well as collaborates within an active team.
- Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
