**The Opportunity**
The City of St. Albert’s Recreation and Parks Department is seeking to fill a Community Recreation Coordinator position. The position:
- serves as a liaison between the City and not-for-profit recreation organizations.
- provides board level support related to governance, capital asset management and development, and strategic planning.
- Manages and develops lease and other partner agreements.
- Influence and lead continuous improvement of business unit programs and processes.
This position carries out tactical actions resulting from unit level strategic and business plans. It requires critical thinking in support of optimal service delivery, and balancing community, partner, and corporate needs.
The Community Recreation Coordinator represents the City of St. Albert and therefore is required to provide professional, transparent, and timely communications and information.
Community Recreation Coordinators work directly with recreation, sport, and parks organizations and various city departments. Building strong relationships with these groups requires strong written and verbal communication skills, emotional intelligence, proficiency in corporate process and policy, diplomacy, dispute resolution, and group facilitation..
Work in this area can be unpredictable and involve competing timelines. This demands someone who is organized and adaptable, with effective decision making, problem-solving, and ethical reasoning abilities. Experience in monitoring and evaluation is an asset.
**Qualifications**
- A University degree in Recreation, Sport, Kinesiology, or related field and three (3) years related experience OR a two-year diploma and five years of related experience.
- A proven record of establishing and maintaining relationships with community groups and other stakeholders.
- Evidence of competency in program development, organization development, facility project/process management, financial management concepts and techniques, and/or monitoring and evaluation.
- A Class 5 driver’s license and personal vehicle for work use.
**Hours of Work**
You will work a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 with a regular day off [RDO] every two weeks). This position will be required to work flexible hours (e.g., evening/weekends) to accommodate meetings or events.
**Compensation**
$81,116- $99,835 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive flexible benefit package.
