**Job Description**:
**POSITION PURPOSE**
This position is responsible for supporting Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) strategic policies and initiatives/projects to support York Region’s IDEA activities. Responsible for conducting research and providing advice/support on policies/programs/projects including developing stakeholder relationships; supporting Branch projects; and developing written information and materials for presentations. Monitors relevant emerging environment trends, legislation, industry practices, programs, planning, development, evaluation and implementation of IDEA initiatives.

**Accessibility**
Supports the implementation and compliance with provincially mandated accessibility standards under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) including supporting the leading and monitoring of Departmental implementation. Monitors and reviews the Region’s compliance with the AODA and provides recommendations to resolve non-compliance issues; supports the York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee (YRAAC) to ensure compliance.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provides research, analysis and development of various policies, processes, guidelines, presentations required to support IDEA strategic initiatives.
- Provides briefing notes, research findings and recommendations including policy recommendations to inform decision-making.
- Develops project work plans; coordinates and tracks project timelines, deliverables and budget/resource requirements where needed.
- Assesses the changing social, economic, fiscal and political environments and advises on policy or program implications.
- Gathers, synthesizes, analyzes and reviews data and information from multiple sources including searching best practices, foster collaboration and networks with stakeholders within and outside of York Region and participation in various working groups.
- Develops and implements detailed work plans for projects and policy/program initiatives ensuring strong linkages with other internal and external stakeholders and implementation of strategies.
- Provides project management support including conceptualizing, work planning, resourcing and evaluating various short-term projects as required.
- Coordinates and assists with writing, editing and reviewing of materials such as policies, presentations, and briefing notes.
- Utilizes knowledge of IDEA best practices and legal/regulatory environment to manage policy-related changes and can articulate potential risk areas.
- Responds to inquiries and resolves concerns, as appropriate.
- Ensures that services provided meet Regional customer service standards.
- Participates/chairs/facilitates committees, work groups, task forces and special projects, as assigned.
- Manages information in accordance with legislation and corporate standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch, Department and Corporate objectives.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Successful completion of a University Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, social services/human services related discipline, or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in leading small projects, policy development and strong working knowledge of policies and practices related to IDEA.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislations and implications of political and environmental influences that affect the delivery IDEA programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary IDEA best practices
- Ability to support transformational change in a large organization
- Demonstrated ability in the Region’s core competencies.
