The Coordinator, Alumni Relations provides oversight and support to SFU Alumni Relations volunteer management and engagement efforts. SFU Volunteers are located both locally and globally. The Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and day-to-day management of SFU's alumni volunteer strategy. The Coordinator participates in on-going volunteer recognition planning, training, communication and stewardship. This position plans and oversees the management of alumni volunteer events and programming and supports the development and implementation of new unit initiatives that advance the priorities of the Advancement and Alumni Engagement's strategic plan.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Arts, Business Administration or Communications and two years of related experience in areas such as working with Indigenous and multicultural groups, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent knowledge of effective volunteer engagement and management principles and practices.
- Good knowledge of University policies and procedures, and Freedom of Information/Protection of Privacy Act regulations.
- Good knowledge of fundraising concepts and best practice.
- Strong understanding and commitment to inclusivity
- Knowledge in the best practices in equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership skills.
- Excellent public speaking skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical reasoning, problem solving, and organizational skills, with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent budget management and financial administration skills with the ability to generate revenue.
- Effective computer skills with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to set clear goals.
- Ability to influence key stakeholders through effective presentations.
- Ability to develop relationships and partnerships and to work collaboratively at all levels and areas within the organization
- Ability to address the barriers that marginalized groups experience and support cultural change and understanding.
- Ability to arrange suitable transportation to various work locations, travel locally and globally as required and work flexible work hours inclusive of evenings, weekends and early mornings.
- Ability to work with information and records systems and access improvements when needed.
- Ability to interact effectively and positively with staff, managers and donors and administrators.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment exercising mature judgment and a high level of diplomacy and discretion.
