The Program Assistant will work closely with our Service Delivery team to offer summer activity opportunities for the youth in our programs and those waiting to enroll, assist with outreach and volunteer recruitment, and help with office/clerical needs. This position will be based out of our Bedford location but will also include some work from home opportunities. Some travel will be required within HRM to attend events and recruitment opportunities.
- Research, book space and attend public events with the goal of distributing information to potential volunteers.
- Assist the Service Delivery team in organizing and implementing activities for program participants, including contact with venues, sponsor requests and on-site support.
- Assist service delivery team members with conducting in-person meetings and telephone contacts with mentors, parents, children and all other program participants.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as file and document management, correspondence, data-entry and other office tasks as required.
- On occasion, work with the Community Engagement team to assist with fundraising events and activities.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Attention to detail.
- Good judgement and ability to handle documents in a confidential manner.
- Outgoing, friendly and willing to engage with the public.
- Self-directed, ability to manage time and schedule.
- Competent in using the Microsoft Suite of programs.

Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to travel to various events and outreach opportunities.
- A Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry Search with satisfactory results will be required upon acceptance of an employment offer.
- The incumbent must currently be enrolled in a post-secondary diploma or degree program in a field related to human services. (eg. Education, Social Work, Child and Youth Work, Family Studies, Psychology, Human Services, Recreation, etc)
