**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
The Dispatcher (Cross Border Operations) is responsible for the planning and execution of daily FTL and LTL shipment requests, ensuring that the appropriate company driver, owner operator or third party carrier is assigned to each trip. The Dispatcher Cross Border Operations works closely with our customers to ensure their needs are being fully met and/or exceeded. This individual works with all drivers to ensure all trips are coordinated, company resources are optimized, and all customer orders are moving on time. They play a leadership role in the operations planning function, collaborating effectively with all team members, drivers and third parties to achieve daily objectives.

Reporting into the Manager, Dispatch, your responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
**Manage Caller/Shipper/Consignee Relationships**:

- Communicating with customers of our lane capacity and freight rates as well as any issues with maintain on time delivery.
- Update customers of any accessorial charges
- Update shippers of on time or late arrival times while working with drivers to minimize loading delays.
- Co-ordinate with callers and Claims department for mis-ships and rejections.

**Planning and Dispatch**:

- Review in transit and next day loads
- Plan and optimize day off and next day loads (using OUTLOCAL filter)
- Work closely with Seaspan (for sailing allotment)
- Dispatch maintenance, dropping orders onto trips.
- Report to Operations Team Lead/ Manager about the coverage update for the next day
- Optimizing and dispatching trucks for next day based off of planning

**Admin / Trip Monitoring**:

- Start the day by reviewing night notes and following up with the issues
- Review in transit loads to make sure OTD is not affected
- Plan and assign morning loads/trailers (SOF/Walmart)
- Reoptimizing trips with the new ETA’s if any delays
- Communicating to customers/operators on delays
- Keeping system updated
- Performs other tasks as assigned

**WHAT YOU BRING**:

- 4 - 5 years of experience working in a Dispatch or planning role, of similar capacity
- Knowledge of the logistics, supply chain and/or transportation industry preferred.
- Experience working with company drivers, owner operators and third-party carriers.
- Post-secondary education in Transportation, Operations, Logistics or related field.
- Excellent customer service abilities and a dedication to continuous improvement.
- Approachable, positive demeanor with a hands-on and team-oriented work style.
- Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal skills including leadership, conflict resolution and team building abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to quickly understand and identify issues and propose solutions.
- Proven ability to effectively prioritize workflow to ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment. Able to adapt to shifting priorities.
- Ability to manage and adapt to change.
