**Location** - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in person. The in person component primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton.

**Working for the Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute**

The Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute (ABMI) detects large changes in biodiversity in Alberta with the annually updated Biodiversity Intactness Index and Human Footprint Inventory. This research provides ongoing, relevant, scientifically credible information on Alberta's living resources to meet the information needs of government planners, industrial developers and local communities.

**Position**

Working in the ABMI's Executive Office, the Bat Hub Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the design and delivery of collaborative bat monitoring projects by facilitating dialogue with several different partners in monitoring, for example, provincial, federal, and state biologists, university researchers among others. This is a highly collaborative position, serving as the point of connection between multiple internal and external partners.

**Duties**

1. Client Liaison and Market Development

Leads and facilitates development of bat biodiversity initiatives as they support the ABMI Business and Strategic Plan.

Activities
- Works with government, industry, non-government organizations, and the scientific community to understand the knowledge needs of the natural resource management system.
- Engaging partners, collaborators, clients, and end-users in dialogue about the potential benefits of bat biodiversity programs, scientific infrastructure, data and knowledge products.
- Develops client relationships and provides feedback to clients related to the status of their bat biodiversity projects.
- Develops a shared vision and understanding among and across bat project partners and project teams.
- Fosters and maintains an ongoing relationship with the ABMI's other centres to ensure working knowledge of advancements in bat programming.

2. Manages and Supports Biodiversity Programs

Provides support and expertise related to the collaborative planning and implementation of bat biodiversity programs across a breadth of topics that may vary over time.
- Develops and manages project work plans that support the information needs of the North American Bat Monitoring Program.
- Ensures the successful completion of work plans on time and on budget through effective project management, including tracking deliverables and interdependencies, breaking down and prioritizing tasks, ensuring open lines of communication across the project teams, and coordinating frequent team meetings and discussions.
- Supports clarification of project roles and responsibilities, identification of resources and delegation of tasks.
- Develops relationships with appropriate collaborators and service providers (e.g., contractual agreements with contractors).
- Coordinates independent scientific review of project products as required.
- Carries out field work as required.
- Compiles, process and submits data to the North American Bat Monitoring Program in a efficient and timely manner each year.

3. Directs and Undertakes Project Work

Works independently, with partners, senior leadership, staff, and project collaborators to conduct necessary project work.
- Schedules, organizes and facilitates project meetings, including tracking and following up with project team members on action items.
- Maintains project documentation.
- Identifies issues and leads teams through problem solving.
