YMCA Cedar Glen is a busy centre that is home to a large summer day camp and year round outdoor centre. Our 263 acres site has two outdoor pools, large playing fields, forests, streams, and several large buildings to provide accommodation, meeting, and eating spaces. The Assistant Maintenance Worker supports our operation by completing daily tasks such as grass cutting, landscaping, and minor repairs as needed.

The Front Desk Host is an integral part of the day to day operations of our Outdoor Centre. The Front Desk Host is the main point of contact for all the groups and participants that are onsite. The Front Desk Host is responsible for welcoming guests on arrival and providing support to them throughout their visit, answering questions, resolving issues, as well as creating and maintaining a friendly and welcoming environment.

**In this role, you will**:

- Welcoming guests upon arrival and checking them in. This includes: confirming numbers and dietary information, completing any paperwork, collecting a room assignment sheet and gathering any additional details or special needs/requests. Ensures any last minute details, special needs or requests are passed along to the relevant departments and the appropriate arrangements are made.
- Delivers a community meeting and meal speech to each group on arrival - introducing them to our site, going over emergency procedures and passing along guidelines and relevant information that pertains to their stay.
- Regularly check in with guests during their stay and provide support to them throughout their visit; appropriately responding to any questions, needs or issues as they arise.
- Responsible for group departure and check out. This includes: collecting room keys and payment, tidying up any spaces and bedrooms that were used, putting away/returning any equipment (ie. AV carts, flip chart stands, etc).
- Responsible for end of day lock up - turning off lights, turning down heat, closing windows and locking up all doors.
- Ensures Health & Safety procedures, including Covid-19 guidelines are adhered to; and shares duties with the staff team to ensure the site is clean, organized and safe.
- Provide support to various departments; Food Service, Maintenance, Housekeeping, as it pertains to a group’s visit (ie. vacuuming/mopping, spot cleaning washrooms and meeting rooms, restocking paper products, supplies and equipment, delivering snack, restocking beverage stations, etc.) and where necessary.
- Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association. Represents the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner.
- Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
- Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.

**You bring**:

- Completed or in the process of completing Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- Experience working in customer service environment
- Demonstrated skills: working with reduced supervision, working as a member of a team to prioritize and complete tasks
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
- Excellent written communication skills
