Trans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

**This position is based in our Burnaby office and will report to the Manager, External Relations.**

**Duration: May 1, 2023 to August 31, 2023**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Coordinate material development for new and updated content and process materials through approvals;
- Supporting events (virtual and/or in person), including but not limited to logistics, attendance, monitoring, participating in public engagement activities on behalf of Trans Mountain;
- Research, prepare and update contact lists;
- Draft documents, including plans, reports, correspondence, and presentations;
- Participate in public engagement activities to support construction execution and regulatory requirements (Public Awareness Program);
- Support with record keeping and submissions to stake tracker database;
- Assist with community close out activities;
- Assist with Government Relations Plan research and development; and
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications and Professional Experience**:

- Enrolled in a Communications, Public Relations, Stakeholder Engagement, or other program in a related field, with at least one year completed;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Strong interpersonal and communicative skills to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment;
- Ability to accurately analyze information;
- Ability to multi-task effectively, with strong organizational and time management skills;
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude;
- Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks;
- Able to work independently with mínimal supervision;
- Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
- Attention to detail is critical;
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines;
- Must be flexible and adaptable to change; and
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

**Other Requirements and Information**:

- Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution, returning to full-time studies in the Fall term;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle considered an asset;
- Site and/or project office work; may need to work remotely;
- Some travel may be required (5-10%); and
- Flexible work week; may need to work evenings or weekends.

In Alberta, the existing pipeline system spans the traditional territories of Treaty 6, 7 and 8, and the Métis Nation of Alberta (Zone 4).

In British Columbia, the system crosses the traditional territories of numerous First Nations that are affiliated with the Secwepemc, Dakelh (Carrier), Nlaka'pamux, Syilx/Okanagan, Interior and Coast Salish, Stó:lo, as well as the Métis.

Trans Mountain also operates through 15 First Nation Reserves located within the region spanning the BC interior through Fraser Valley.
