Permanent Position

The Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) is seeking a Supervisor, Compliance. We have one (1) permanent position available for an immediate start.

The Role

Under the direction of the Director, Complaints, lead the efforts of the compliance team in the distribution of work, documentation of processes, monitoring the status of compliance-related activities and procedures, and coordinating training for those involved in the administration of the complaints program.

This is an integral role that supports the Deputy Registrar and Director with: assessing and responding to compliance-related inquiries, providing practice guidance where appropriate; assessing complaint case evidence and determining recommended course of action, engaging in dispute resolution where appropriate; providing research and recommendations for improving team processes to align with leading practices in regulatory compliance and the interpretation and administration of the _Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002_ (REBBA) or its successor; leading the implementation of enhancements and updates to processes, policies and associated materials for the complaints program; and reporting on compliance trends and patterns. This position also organizes and directs the day-to-day activities of assigned team members, provides ongoing coaching and feedback, including formal performance management activities.

Position Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director, Complaints, support the overall team by proactively ensuring smooth team operation and effective intra-team and inter-team collaboration.

Key job functions include:

- Work with manager to establish/update team processes, workflows, plans, and team performance measures
- Contribute to team resourcing plan, documentation, reporting standards, templates, and risk-related control documents
- Lead, track and report on program plans, manage teamwork assignments, track risks, and foster a positive and collaborative relationship with colleagues and stakeholders
- Monitor and manage engagement and performance of the team, onboard team members, leading development of team roles and responsibilities, and assisting in identifying resource requirements
- Actively participate in coaching and performance activities, learning opportunities, personal goal setting, and development plans
- Escalation support and other duties as assigned

**Qualifications and experience**
- Degree or diploma in business administration, law, or paralegal studies, or equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
- Experience in a regulated sector/profession, with an understanding of how governing legislation, including its policy intent, informs compliance and enforcement practices
- Extensive experience in the investigation of complaints or compliance matters
- Experience in mediation and dispute resolution
- Previous team lead or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational, project and time management skills, including ability to prioritize and multitask
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience in public speaking/presenting to large audiences
- Knowledge and understanding of the real estate sector would be an asset
- Proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and CRM/case management tools
