Research Commons Operations Manager

**Purpose**:
Reporting to the Senior Executive Officer, the Operations Manager role coordinates program and project activities of the Research Commons and supports the Academic Director with special projects, as required.The role manages the implementation and administration of the Research Commons, supports the execution of curriculum and workshops, and ensures appropriate procedures and infrastructures are in place. The primary mandate is to increase research funding success and support faculty research career development through supportive education and capacity-building programs. Through close collaboration with partners across the university, the role assists with the delivery, development, and evaluation of programming that coordinates and augments Central and Faculty-based research supports at York University.

**Education**:
Undergraduate degree required, preferably in business, finance or research related field.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification an asset.

**Experience**:
Minimum of 5 years' related experience, preferably in an academic/research environment including project management, managing budgets, planning, analysis.

**Skills**:
Knowledge:
Understanding of the nature of university-based research and the research goals of the institution.

**Skills**:Demonstrated and thorough knowledge and superior skills in budgetary planning and control
Superior organizational skills to simultaneously handle conflicting priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a complex and frequently changing high volume environment
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Effective interpersonal skills, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
Experience liaising with multiple departments and managing relationships
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong data management and analysis skills
Intermediate Excel, PowerPoint and Word processing, in a Windows environment
Web maintenance software (especially WordPress) experience an asset

**Additional Notes**:
Normal working conditions in an open concept office environment.
- **Compensation**:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
