Coordinates, maintains, trains and provides oversight of environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs at a plant.

**Day-to-Day Role**:

- Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements.
- Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards
- Follow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Assist EHS Manager in administering EHS programs
- Assist in developing training and ergonomic programs
- Deliver EHS training and new hire orientations for one or more of the following: lock out / tag out (LOTO), fire prevention, hazard communications, confined space entry, hearing conservation, EHS policies and procedures, or other training programs
- Assist in safety incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action
- Conduct inspections and audits, identify opportunities to improve, and make recommendations to improve or eliminate unsafe conditions or practices
- Track and maintain appropriate documentation, and complete reports
- Collaborate with local Human Resources Manager in the administration of Worker’s Compensation and Early Return to Work Program.
- Coordinate all hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage, handling, and disposal
- Ensure procurement of proper EHS supplies including PPE
- May communicate directly with regulatory agencies

**Core Skills and Qualifications**:

- Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
- BS degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or other science field, or
- Associate degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or other science field with two years of related experience, or
- High School diploma or equivalent with four (4) years of related experience
- Ability to utilize and train employees on technology, processes and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
- Strong written communication skills demonstrating the ability to prepare outlines, reports, letters, and any other supplemental materials in a clear and concise manner
- Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to modify basic reports, documents and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and SharePoint
- Ability to observe, follow, understand, and evaluate processes demonstrated and other workplace procedures
- Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects and priorities

**Preferred Skills and Qualifications**:

- Prior experience in handling compliance issues, OSHA/EPA programs, regulatory reviews, permit preparation, reporting and record keeping
- Experience in evaluating/interpreting OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and NFPA, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, BOMA and BOCA standards
- Experience with Federal, State and local Worker’s Compensation law and prior experience establishing proactive Ergonomics Program
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Paper converting, chemical/plastics processing and packaging industrial experience
- Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification
