About the Role

As an EHS Consultant at Toronto Hydro, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the environment. This position is responsible for providing expert advice on Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) matters within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct regular health and safety inspections in various environments, including offices, construction sites, and industrial settings.
  2. Analyze data, prepare reports, proposals, and recommendations to minimize or reduce EHS hazards and improve performance.
  3. Lead multiple client assignments and associated projects, utilizing internal and external resources effectively.
  4. Liaise with government agencies, such as the Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks, for reporting requirements, work refusals, complaints, and investigations.
  5. Develop, implement, and monitor effective EHS systems, including associated programs and procedures.
  6. Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, technological changes, and methodology.
  7. Deliver high-quality, on-time completion of health and safety projects.
  8. Act as an EHS subject matter expert on corporate or divisional projects, providing guidance and support as needed.
  9. Oversee environmental management programs, including waste management, PCB management, hazardous waste management, and recycling initiatives.
  10. Develop and deliver training for employees on EHS programs, ensuring compliance and awareness.
  11. Stay current with best practices, legislation changes, new developments, and trends in EHS.
  12. Monitor, update, and verify organization compliance with applicable safety and environmental legislation.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in EHS or industrial hygienist-related work.
  3. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation preferred.
  4. Post-Graduate Certificate/Diploma in EHS is an asset.
  5. Valid G driver's license.
  6. Strong knowledge and experience with EHS management systems.
  7. Thorough understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Legislation and Regulations, Environmental Protection Act, and other relevant laws.
  8. Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  9. Results-driven and strong organizational/time management skills.
  10. Ability to influence and persuade others.

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth.
