- Job DescriptionECOH is seeking a dynamic, self stater to join ECOH’s OHS Team as an **Environmental Health & Safety Compliance Auditor.** As an **Environmental Health & Safety Compliance Auditor**, you are primarily responsible for assessing compliance to provincial regulatory requirements and applicable Codes and Standards based on the equipment, operational practices and associated documentation. You will also evaluate Health & Safety documentation such as training records, policies and procedures as well as current client practices, activities and processes to ensure adherence to environmental legislation and corporate objectives to prevent/mitigate environment risk and discharge to the environment. As the **Environmental Health & Safety Compliance Auditor **will possess relevant academic training, a high degree of technical knowledge in Environmental auditing and management systems, appropriate professional designations, as well as 5 to 10 years of industry related experience.
- Roles & Responsibilities- Here is what you will be doing:
- Assisting clients in checking if environmental permits are in place as needed.
- Assessing risks from materials and practices.
- Detecting violations of environmental regulations.
- Planning and executing safety management system audits for ECOH’s client base.
- Prepares audits for clients by researching previous action reports and preparing a site-specific protocol for the audit.
- Verifies whether previous years’ findings are completed or still outstanding at the time of the audit.
- Working with clients to develop or make improvements to their safety management system.
- Working with clients to develop policies and procedures specific to clint needs.
- Developing and executing health and safety training as per clients needs.
- Conducting safety compliance inspections at client sites.
- Providing safety oversight at client sites.
- Gather information about any incidents, or key areas that need improvement.
- Understanding the scope of work for each audit.
- Providing proper documentation of all completed work and tracking work progress.
- Reviewing the safety measures and steps taken by the client, and whether they have been enforced.
- Investigate health and safety related complaints, spills or hazardous chemicals and outbreaks of diseases or poisoning.
- Assessing risks from materials and practices.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of all applicable health and safety legislation, codes of practice, standards and guidelines applicable to ECOH’s clientele.
- Qualifications- Here are the skills you will possess:
- P.Eng., CRSP, CRST certificates or other Canadian certification in Environmental, Health and Safety an asset.
- A Certified Health and Safety Management System Auditor (CHSMSA) designation, an asset.
- At 5 to 10 years of experience as an Environmental Health & Safety Auditor.
- Industry experience, an asset.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including (if required) respiratory protection, specialized clothing, work boots, hard hats hearing protection, fall arrest, etc.
- Ability to lift boxes, equipment and/or coolers not exceeding 20kg.
- Time and resource management
- ability to provide field staff with the appropriate direction, guidance, and instructions.
- Ability to provide feedback to staff consistently, constructively and appropriately.
- Demonstrates strong support of corporate initiatives and plans.
- Willingness to share technical knowledge and expertise with peers.
- Excellent employee relations
- ability to motivate, develop and mentor field staff.
- Ability to work effectively with fellow project managers, senior management, clients and contractors, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
- Sound judgement pertaining to business and project activities.
- Strong written/verbal communications skills
- Demonstrates the ability to present technical data effectively to internal staff and clients.
- Ability to travel out of the city or province for extended periods (i.e. several days to weeks at a time).
- Valid driver’s license and adequate insurance must be always maintained.
- General to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge and understanding of other technical related software programs (as required).
