This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with Hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.

Your role

Under the supervision of Production Services, Media Process Management, you will be responsible for implementing complex workflows for receiving, transforming and delivering media files using a combination of in-house and commercial software. Workflows must be fast, efficient and secure.

You will be responsible for tracking, supporting and developing the mass digitization of archives (MassD) project on behalf of CBC/Radio-Canada English and French Services.

You must also ensure the integrity of the files and metadata they transport.

Your judgment, knowledge, experience and skills will help you achieve the following:

- Perform daily monitoring of all phases of the archive digitization process, including:

- Transporting and receiving content digitized by our external partners.
- Transferring material to the archiving system in conjunction with internal partners (MAM teams).
- Handling errors and exceptions.
- Co-ordinating suggested improvements with the software development teams (processes and/or operations).
- Participate in strategic planning, providing expert advice on media management. Research and recommend potential innovative solutions.
- Involve stakeholders as efficiently as possible and ensure their needs are met.
- Design efficient, practical solutions to complex problems, particularly when it comes to integrating and optimizing our systems.
- Prepare functional and schematic drawings for the various workflows.
- Provide users and support teams with high-level technical support.
- Document strategies, recommendations, communications and user guides, and prepare training.
- Develop and recommend methods for quantifying the performance of our workflows.
- Produce simple and complex performance statistics for our workflows.
- University or community college graduation in computer science or equivalent
- Three or more years’ relevant experience
- Solid command of the principles surrounding IT environments and related concepts
- Practical knowledge of server administration (Linux, Windows), virtualization, networking, databases and security
- Intermediate knowledge of REST API principles and the interconnections between different computer systems
- Good knowledge of audio and video formats and codecs
- Highly skilled at developing Receive/Transform/Deliver workflows for audio/video files
- Knowledge of continuous improvement concepts a definite asset
- Experience working for a media post-production or technical maintenance company a definite asset
- Knowledge of Vantage, Elemental, Signiant, Aspera, AVID, Dalet, FFMPEG, Postman, Elasticsearch, Mongo, ITX and VSM a definite asset
- Basic development and/or scripting skills a definite asset
- Work hours are primarily during the day, but you may be required to be on call 24-7 as needed.
