**About Potash**

The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.

Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. **Purpose**

The Principal Geology will provide technical expertise to support mine development, including the collection, analysis, and interpretation of geological data to provide technical guidance for decision making relating to underground geology and geological risks. They will be responsible for inspecting, mapping, and interpreting geological conditions during mine development and working with BHP Planning & Technical to validate and calibrate geological models. They will also develop, implement, and monitor sampling analysis protocols and QA/QC programs to quantify the quality, risks, and compliance of geological data. This role will need strong people skills to identify, engage, and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.

**About the Role**

In this role, you will:

- Endorse the authority to mine (ATM)
- in terms of procedures and work instructions for geological activities underground and updating and maintaining the short-term geological model using Deswik.
- Be a control owner for underground risk associated with fall of ground, mine flooding, etc.
- Prioritize geology related work effort and resources accordingly.
- Verify data used in reconciliation activities.
- Conduct routine checks on reconciliation data/inputs to validate the accuracy of key factors used in reconciliation processes.
- Acquire and analyze geological data to inform mine design.
- Interface with and support the BHP Planning & Technical team in mapping, modelling and conducting geological analysis to improve ground control and map hazards.
- Recommend improvements and drive adherence to technical standards for geology.
- Advise stakeholders on techniques to optimize geological data collection and interpretation.
- Train and support others inclusive of the Mine Technicians in understanding and interpreting geological conditions underground.
- Select areas for sampling and data collection to build and confirm ore body knowledge that enables value decisions for Jansen.
- Ensure they are adhering to and exhibiting Jansen core values.
- Identify and assess risk, makes risk informed decisions, use Jansen’s risk management framework, and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.

**About You**
- A recognized bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
- Relevant experience within the Potash mining sector.
- Experience in Potash operations is an asset.
- Experience in other evaporite orebodies is considered an asset.
- Possess strong data analytics skills.
- High attention to detail, motivation, and commitment to quality outcomes.
- Ability to operate effectively and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment utilizing agile methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts and technologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

**Work Location**

Downtown, Saskatoon office with regular visits to the Jansen mine site. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.
