**Job Summary**
The Resource Development Officer (RDO) is a position that builds relationships and community brand awareness ultimately leading to financial contributions by organizations and individuals. An RDO will maintain relationships while assertively identifying and developing new prospects, helping to inform about United Way’s Mission and ensuring positive brand recognition. This position includes the development of community relations and meaningful connections with multiple stakeholder levels for the betterment of the lives of the people and communities in Northern BC. This is an exciting position that is people forward, inspiring, and serves a critical need not just for United Way of Northern BC, but the agencies we support.

**Requested Qualifications and Skills**:

- A combination of education and experience in marketing, sales and/or fundraising, community development, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Effective time management is essential along with the ability to multi-task.
- A demonstrated keen sense toward relationship building is needed.
- Must be computer proficient, detail oriented and organized.
- Experience with Microsoft programs including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database(s) an asset.
- Experienced knowledge of the Northwest BC Region with preference given to those with a strong network of relationships.
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of the need for community improvement.
- Highly skilled in interpersonal and relational communication, both written and verbal.
- Self-driven and highly professional with the following demonstrated qualities: integrity/accountability, customer service, strategic thinking, diversity/inclusion (staff/volunteer), relationship building focused.
- Ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and work with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to travel throughout NW region a few times a year, or as needed.
- Ability to work out of a home office.
- Valid BC driver’s license.

**Deliverables and Responsibilities**:

- Take initiative, think innovatively, and build partnerships to carry out the Mission, Vision and Values of UWNBC.
- Achieve established organization financial goals for portfolio, assigned accounts, new donors, and new business development.
- Achieve assigned goals for number of donor or prospect calls and visits, or as defined.
- Assertively identify, recruit, and develop prospects for new business development on a year-round basis. New business can include workplace campaigns, corporate gifts, sponsorships, and gifts in kind.
- Manage and nurture assigned accounts to develop stronger UWNBC relationships, commitment, and workplace campaign support.
- Maintain current and accurate information in UWNBC’s CRM database (Salesforce) and applicable tools on all prospects and assigned accounts.
- Using data from Salesforce (CRM database), maintain consistent account contact and creatively explore and introduce additional opportunities, as appropriate (i.e., volunteerism, sponsorships, etc.).
- Using Salesforce, analyze campaign potential and results for assigned accounts in order to develop market segments that will determine each account's relationship and financial goals.
- Using Salesforce, track progress and leverage data to provide strategic, targeted account management and excellent customer service. This may involve long-term strategic plans with ambitious goals.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit individual donors and prospects at the leadership level.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and training according to campaign timetables.
- Working with leadership, develop and execute an annual individual action plan with measurable goals that reflect UWNBC’s strategic objectives.
- Actively engage in business networking opportunities.
- Provide high level of customer service with a high degree of professionalism, while being assertive, polite, and friendly.
- Promote a cooperative spirit among co-workers and other partners.
- Display a consistent positive demeanor, attitude, communication, and body language.
- Clear articulation of company messaging, initiatives and fundraising needs while being concise and editing communication (verbal or written) for the audience.
