- JOB SUMMARY: Silviculture surveyors in the summer assist with forest management post planting. Surveyors collect data on reforested blocks on behalf of our clients. You will assess tree and overall block regrowth by considering the following: invasive species, grass and other competing vegetation, and tree health. Over the winter months surveyors may assist timber cruisers or conduct other forest health surveys, like beetle.
- This is a temporary, full-time field position with limited office work in the Northern Interior backcountry of BC focused on post-harvest activities. Crews can expect to work 10-hour days on a 10 on 4 off rotation in remote locations. Accommodations can vary shift to shift, typical accommodations are a tent bush camp or logging camps. Both entry-level and experienced surveyors are welcome.
- JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:- Conduct silviculture surveys (generally May-October),-
- Conduct Aerial and ground surveys-
- Layout for forestry crop release management operations-
- Implementation of forestry crop release management operations-
- Planting and manual brushing (crop release) quality,Crossing and Site Plan Data Collection-
- Ecology type identification and stratificationRemote camping and wilderness exploration-
- Comply with applicable federal, provincial and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.-
- Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright and Wright Canada Holdings’ culture of safety and employee ownership.-

- A love of the outdoors-
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team-
- 1 year of Forestry-related experience or applicable education-
- Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry, or a related field is considered an asset-
- Previous experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks safely on various road conditions will be considered an asset-
- The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time-
- Basic field work experience-
- Experience using GPS, avenza, and other mapping programs-
