**Hourly Wage**:$32.00, to $35.00 per hour, dependant on experience. This is a benefited position after three months probationary period is passed. Benefits include, RSP contributions, Self Care hour, Medical and Dental.

**Overview**:
Raven’s Nest is a Child and Youth Advocacy Program serving the geographic area north of the Malahat up to and including Pacheedaht and Ditidaht territories, in the context of justice, child maltreatment, online exploitation, and child welfare.

Raven’s Nest is an existing program within the umbrella of services offered through Cowichan Women Against Violence Society which will ensure that child victims are given the appropriate resources and support to realize healing and justice for themselves and their caregivers. We are part of a larger Canadian Network of approximately 50 CYACs nation-wide, as well as a Provincial Network.

**Job Summary**:
**The Advocate is responsible for building sensitive and developmentally appropriate relationships with children between the ages of 2 and 18 and connecting them and their caregivers with resources in the community. **This is a direct service role, coordinating individual situation management initiatives, counselling, medical and forensic resources. Advocates will work closely with the Program Supervisor, and cultural liaisons to coordinate a Multidisciplinary Team of caregivers, including investigators and Courts, appropriately addressing the needs of each child victim, and maintaining records through an online database.

Demonstrated multicultural experience and knowledge of the 94 Calls to Action, UNDRIP, MMIWG2S+ Recommendations is required. Demonstrated experience in diplomacy and working in trauma-informed ways. Ability to manage stressful situations and use team resources effectively.

Strict adherence to confidentiality and best practice protocols is mandatory. Security, access control, and understanding of the use of CCTV, sound rooms and monitoring stations recording equipment required. Meticulous record keeping and use of encrypted systems is required.

Occasional evenings and weekend work may be included in the job, requiring a commitment to availability outside of standard office hours.

**Duties**:
Ø Receive referrals from RCMP and community members regarding child maltreatment and child welfare.

Ø Coordinate Raven’s Nest facilities to allow for Forensic interviews, remote testimony, advocacy, court preparations, etc. in a trauma informed and confidential manner. Monitoring the facility calendar to ensure no overlap of clients.

Ø Coordinate full advocacy services for child and youth clients, from initial call throughout forensic and judicial proceedings.

Ø Intake and case flow management with client-centred focus using team dialogue and database.

Ø Court preparation and Accompaniment, within Raven’s Nest or at BC Prosecution Services

Ø Community education and engagement events

Ø Engage in communications with Multidisciplinary Teams

Ø Security of all facilities including interview and recording rooms; liaison with police interviewers

Ø Communications and coordination of interpreters, cultural liaison, and all aspects of individualized, culturally sensitive, accessible client focused services.

Ø Adherence to HR practices and policies of CWAVS and BC Legislation

Ø Input and upkeep of all relevant information and updates in the program’s dedicated database.

Ø On going education initiatives and collaboration projects with other teams within CWAVS and in the sector

Ø Participate actively in Provincial and National Network meetings, attend training and conferences (virtual). Attend funding meetings and provide input for on going funding opportunities and proposals.

Ø Social media and Website upkeep and content development

Ø Maintain a safe and hygienic workspace, including replenishment of snacks and drinks for client, and clear up of space after sessions, team cleaning of appliances, dishes, and resources, including those used by the Accredited Facility Dog
