Qualifications and Requirements

**Education and Training**

We are seeking a candidate with a Diploma in Community Social Services, such as Mental Health Worker, Child and Youth Care, or Social Services Worker.

**Experience**

A minimum of two years of recent related experience working with Indigenous communities and resources is required.

**Knowledge and Skills**

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of legislation such as the Mental Health Act, the Infants Act, and duty to report legislation. They will also have knowledge of available programs, their interrelationships, and their function in delivering care in the community.

**Indigenous Health and Community Knowledge**

The successful candidate will have an extensive understanding and knowledge of Indigenous health issues, protocols, and health needs, including the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of the client and community.

**Additional Requirements**

A valid Class 5 vehicle license and a current Level C Basic Life Saving Certificate are required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement culturally sensitive programs and services for Indigenous youth and families.
  • Provide support and guidance to clients, including knowledge of child development, parenting, and family systems.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and community members, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and resources.
  • Provide education and support on harm reduction practices and protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge.
