A minimum of two years of recent relevant experience working with Indigenous communities and resources is essential.
Familiarity with legislation including the Mental Health Act, the Infants Act, and mandatory reporting laws is necessary. Understanding of available programs, their interconnections, and their roles in community care delivery is crucial. A comprehensive understanding of Indigenous health issues, protocols, and needs—encompassing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of clients and communities—is vital. Knowledge of Indigenous communities and resources, particularly those located on Vancouver Island, is preferred. A strong grasp of harm reduction principles and practices is required. A current Level C Basic Life Saving Certificate and a valid Class 5 driver's license are mandatory.
