The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing emergency and predictive preventative maintenance procedures on all facility equipment and electromechanical conveyor systems by providing technical expertise to diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and control system failures.
The incumbent must conduct routine and periodic inspections to determine repair and perform maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of machinery and equipment.
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performing emergency and predictive maintenance procedures on electro-mechanical conveyor systems.
- Maintenance and inspection of electrical control systems to carry out first line diagnostic, troubleshooting and maintenance work.
- Diagnosing and repairing all facility equipment using technical expertise and accepted diagnostic procedures, tests, calibration equipment and instrumentation.
- Conducting routine and periodic inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of machinery and equipment.
- Managing tasks, projects and priorities with mínimal supervision.
- Developing and providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times.
- Support the development of a preventative maintenance program.
- Keeping work area clean and orderly.
- Assisting with Facility maintenance as necessary.
- Performing all work in conformance with safe work practices.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
- Ideally possess 2-4 years of working experience in a similar role
- Possess at least a high school diploma; **relevant certifications **including but not limited to working at heights, fall protection training and scissor lift operations.
- **Electrician certification an asset, but not mandatory**:
- Working knowledge and demonstrated experience in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of conveyor system
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact with customers and employees.
- Must possess problem solving, conflict resolution, decision making and planning/organizing skills.
- Excellent written/oral communication in English required and excellent listening skills.
- Must be able to physically complete the requirements of the job
- Must be creative and possess the ability to think outside the box
- Must be legally able to work in Canada without requiring sponsorship
- Must be currently residing in Canada.
**Work Environment & Physical Demands**:
- Frequent use of hand tools
- Fast paced distribution center environment
- Conveyor machinery noise; material handling equipment traffic
- Frequent standing and walking through the shift
- Occasionally may need to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Some kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting
- Ascending and descending stairs, ladders and ramps
