**Position Summary**:
Working closely with the Chair, School of Early Childhood Education, the Manager, Academic Programs provides academic leadership and management to the School of ECE in the Faculty of Applied Arts and Health Sciences. The Manager, Academic Programs is responsible, with supervision and assistance from the Chair, for daily operating matters and operational planning/management within the School and for ensuring that School’s goals are met.

This is a Hybrid role. Onsite work will vary depending on operational needs. The team currently works anywhere from 1-2 days per week working onsite. This may be increased as required.

Incumbent must be able to travel between Seneca campus locations: Newnham and King campus.

**Responsibilities**:
**Supervision of full-time and part-time field placement staff**
- Manages the work of full and part-time staff on field placement team.
- Oversees field placement process as well as field placement course content and evaluation methods.

**Support for faculty and staff**
- Shares responsibility with the Chair to act as a resource for faculty on academic, curriculum and classroom management matters.
- Assists in conducting an orientation for all new faculty members at the beginning of each semester, which may include workshops on classroom management, Seneca policies and procedures and an introduction to the School of ECE critical dates and processes.
- Administers the processes for recruitment of new faculty under the supervision of the Chair.
- Assigns work to faculty/staff under the supervision of the Chair
- Coordinates the work of faculty in development of new/revised academic programming and the pursuit of scholarly activity.
- Provides support to adjunct faculty in delivering curriculum and carrying out projects in the classrooms and labs by determining need, hiring, supervising and mentoring adjunct faculty.
- Provides ongoing support and feedback, regular evaluation sessions and determine the professional development needs of those being supervised.
- Performs classroom observation and faculty feedback on academic performance under the supervision of the Chair.

**Student Support**
- Acts as the first point of contact and resolves issues with existing students and working to mediate concerns and arrive at a formal or informal resolution. Including issues that cannot be dealt with by faculty or Academic Advisors and will advise students concerning means available to address their needs including appropriate counselling services as required.
- Responsible for the development and delivery of activities related to student success and persistence including providing guidance and direction to Student Advisors/Program Coordinators.

**Marketing and Outreach**
- Participates in school level marketing and outreach to the community, to new students and to industry partners, in Canada and abroad.
- Represents the College to community groups, business and professional associations and international institutions by participating in and/or facilitating meetings and events as well as establishing and maintaining relationships with external groups (e.g., to determine trends, needs, identify resource persons, advisors and faculty); acting as a public relations resource and professional representative of the College.

**Planning and coordination**
- Along with Chair, initiates and sustains ongoing, long term strategic planning processes with Faculty and Staff or with other areas of the College. Which includes new program development, Curriculum review, International collaboration.
- Works with the Chair, preparing and reviewing long-term planning for the School, faculty and resource allocation, faculty development, students’ advisement and faculty training.
- Responsible for organizing and supporting special projects initiated from the Chair’s Office as required
- Works with Coordinators and Faculty to ensure that the Program Advisory Committee is representative of the industry and advising the School of ECE on issues relevant in the field. This includes: attending and managing the logistics of PAC meetings, supporting the recruitment of new members and build and maintain relationships with existing members.

**Qualifications**:
***Education**:

- A completed four (4) year degree in Early Childhood studies, Humanities, Social Sciences, or Education or related area of study. If education is in a related area of study, please state how it is relevant.
- Master’s Degree in a related field is considered an asset.
