**About Our Opportunity**:
As part of the Consolidated Client Service Unit (CCSU), Decision Review Services are responsible to conduct Decision Reviews on all ESIA and DSP cases across the province. Here, we work collaboratively to streamline processes and enhance client services.

As the Decision Reviewer, you will join a collaborative team who review decisions made in the ESIA and DSP programs. The decision review, is the first step in the appeal process and must occur before an appeal hearing.

As part of the team, you will complete all reviews, and share decisions with clients to support ESIA and DSP supervisors, case workers and care coordinators.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
You are responsible to ensure that accurate benefits are provided to eligible clients in keeping with applicable regulations, policies and procedures. You will work with complex, sensitive, and financial information and will make recommendations or decisions which may inform Appeal Hearings or court action.

You have the important responsibility to review and assess clients accessing our services, ensuring they meet the eligibility requirements for program participation. You will support this work by:

- Reviewing eligibility while also ensuring the accuracy of a Decision Review report and file completeness.
- Assessing and gathering documentation/information to determine and support eligibility for the programs, and benefit amounts.

You may be required to represent the department in court proceedings and/or appeal board hearings. You will work closely and collaboratively with department programs, community resources and the legal community.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
You have completed your bachelor’s degree in a related field and have five (5) years of related experience in interpreting legislation and policies. You have an ability to understand IA, ESS and DSP policies and programs as well as the applicable Acts and Regulations.

You will travel regularly, requiring a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Essential to your success in this role are:

- An understanding of poverty, un/underemployment of individuals facing systemic barriers, mental health, addictions, and other issues that prevent sustained employment and income.
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) including your strong report writing.
- Ability to analyze data from multiple sources to draw appropriate conclusions and make suitable recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong attention to detail, nature for multi-tasking, and ability to work with mínimal supervision.You are able to work efficiently and effectively in a workplace environment that is constantly dealing with time pressures and conflicting pressures. Previous experience with Employment Support and Income Assistance, Disability Support Services, as well as knowledge of services and programs offered by the Department and other community agencies are highly desirable.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

- A related master’s degree and three (3) years of related experience
