**POSITION**:MINIATURE TRAIN ATTENDANT - LANGUAGE SKILLS (student)

**HOURS OF WORK**:variable up to 36.25 hours per week

**LOCATION**:

**(11 km east of Morrisburg)**

**SALARY**:$18.05 per hour

**PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT**:May 5, 2025, to September 19, 2025

**WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE?**

You will:

- Be a representative of one of Morrisburg’s premium and internationally recognized tourism sites.
- Greet and assist customers.
- Help operate the Upper Canada Village miniature train by driving the train, operating the audio-visual exhibit and audio tour, helping to maintain the train, track, station and surrounding area.
- Sell tickets and operating a cash register.
- Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor.
- Embody the SLPC’s equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.

**HOW DO I QUALIFY?**

You have:

- a G-level driver’s license or equivalent
- The ability to complete a Z-license endorsement training course
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to acquire a good knowledge of the train’s operation and to perform the physical tasks that are part of this position (i.e. driving the train properly and safely, operating the audio-visual equipment, assisting with maintenance and minor repairs).
- The ability to operate a cash register.
- The ability to work under pressure in a busy area.
- The ability to learn and share a wide variety of historical and tourist information with customers and to exercise good judgement in responding to inquiries from the public.
- The ability work in a team, problem-solve and find solutions.
- The ability to wear historical costume and/or corporate uniform.
- The ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal, visitor and fellow staff safety is maintained at all times.

**À QUOI PUIS-JE M’ATTENDRE À CE POSTE?**

Vous aurez les fonctions suivantes:

- Agir comme représentant(e) de l’un des principaux sites touristiques de Morrisburg, reconnus internationalement;
- Accueillir et aider les clients;
- Contribuer aux activités d’Upper Canada Village liées au train miniature en conduisant celui-ci, en veillant au fonctionnement de l’exposition audiovisuelle et de la visite audioguidée, et en facilitant l’entretien du train, de la voie ferrée et des environs;
- Vendre les billets et utiliser une caisse enregistreuse;
- Travailler de façon sécuritaire en tout temps et signaler immédiatement les situations dangereuses à votre superviseur;
- Agir conformément aux principes d’équité, de diversité et d’inclusion de la CPSL lors des échanges avec le personnel et la clientèle
- Remarque : Ce poste peut être combiné avec celui d’interprète au centre d’accueil des visiteurs - bataille de la ferme, et donc en inclure les fonctions.

**QUELLES SONT LES QUALIFICATIONS?**

Qualifications recherchées:

- Excellentes aptitudes en communication et en service à la clientèle;
- Capacité d’acquérir une bonne connaissance du fonctionnement du train et d’effectuer les tâches physiques liées à ce poste (conduire le train de façon adéquate et sécuritaire, utiliser l’équipement audiovisuel, aider à l’entretien et aux réparations mineures);
- Capacité d’utiliser une caisse enregistreuse;
- Capacité de travailler sous pression dans un environnement achalandé;
- Capacité d’apprendre et de transmettre aux visiteurs un éventail de faits historiques et de renseignements touristiques, et de faire preuve de jugement dans les réponses aux demandes d’information du public;
- Capacité de travailler en équipe, de résoudre des problèmes et de trouver des solutions;
- Capacité de porter un costume historique ou un uniforme d’entreprise;
- Capacité d’apprendre tous les protocoles et procédures de sécurité afin d’assurer la sécurité du perso
