The Mennonite New Life Centre (MNLCT) is a vibrant, multi-cultural settlement agency for newcomers to Canada. The Centre provides a variety of settlement services, including information/orientation, language instruction, mental health supports and capacity building workshops, public education and bridging to employment. The Centre is a tech-forward charity that utilizes technology solutions to meet the needs of its stakeholders.

**About the position**

The Employment Counsellor, C-Women Program, will work directly with participants in the C-Women program to help them explore appropriate career paths within their field, give them guidance and counselling, refer them to appropriate services, support their search for supervised job placements, advocate for them throughout the placement as well as coach and mentor participants, where and when needed. This role requires a self-driven, creative, independent, and highly organized professional who can build and sustain internal and external stakeholder relationships. This person must also have in-depth understanding of the Ontario labour market, particularly in the Information Technology sector, and the talent gaps facing employers and will actively seek out placement and job opportunities that will meet the career aspirations of program participants.

**Responsibilities**
- Facilitate engaging workshops on job search skills such as resume writing, mock interviews, information interviews, workplace culture and networking that will help participants find suitable positions; update workshop materials as needed to maintain currency.
- Bring in-depth related experience and knowledge in the IT sector, with the support of the Program Manager, Coordinators and other staff and instructors though experience working with internet or technology focused companies.
- Coordinate and refer clients to other Employment Ontario providers for further assistance, following up on the outcomes.
- Build partnerships with employers in Ontario to create job and placement opportunities for clients by conducting ongoing research of and outreach to employers, community resources and programs; actively recruit employers and seek out opportunities, including identifying and contacting new prospective employers.
- Play a hands-on role with participants and employers, providing support and monitoring of job search.
- Conduct group and 1-1 job coaching sessions to help participants explore realistic career paths in the IT field.
- Facilitate program info sessions.
- Establish and maintain temporary, full-time, part-time IT related job postings and networking events to be shared with program alumni.
- Maintain an active caseload in MNLCT database, including all file management responsibilities, and in EOiS/CaMS
- Perform and register exit survey, and 3-6-12-24 months follow ups in a timely manner.
- Offer individual support to participants who struggle throughout the program and refer them to the appropriate services (internally and externally).
- Provide reports on outcomes as outlined in the Project Work Plan as it relates to participant goals
- Support program events, admissions, documentation, and other program related activities as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities.
- Represent MNCLT Bridging programs and MNLCT at external workshops and meetings.

**Qualifications**
- A post-secondary education in Career and Work Counselling, and/or acceptable combination of equivalent experience (job development, IT recruitment, career development, human resources and/or adult learning).
- 1-3 years of experience working in a similar role.
- Demonstrated success coaching participants in the IT sector towards employment.
- Experience in job search facilitation and/or placement coordination.
- Experience with successfully matching program participants with service providers to support specific needs.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles including facilitation, use of digital/social media and/or online learning concepts.
- Demonstrated experience in case and file management.
- Knowledge and experience working with immigrants, newcomers, internationally trained professionals, and diverse populations.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills in online, in-person, and hybrid settings.
- Passion for people, equality, and social justice. Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and anti-oppression approach.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently.
- Exceptional computer literacy skills and above average proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office, Client Management Systems, Adobe, and other similar productivity software.
