**What do you offer?**

The Neighbourhood Day Camp Inclusion Counsellors are responsible for providing one on one support to campers with special needs. Inclusion Counsellors will receive training and support but should come into the role with experience working in this sector. Inclusion Counsellors are caring, enthusiastic, and patient and will use integrative strategies to ensure each camper's success in the program.

- Clarence-Rockland Y
- Ottawa South
- Stittsville
- Vanier
- Kanata

**Some of the tasks of this position include**:

- Providing 1-on-1 and 2-on-1 support to children with special needs.
- Assisting in developing program inclusion strategies to create a positive experience for all campers.
- Managing behavioural incidents and implementing behavioural redirection strategies as necessary.
- Completing all necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Leading programming with an awareness of the campers’ emotional well-being as well as physical safety.

- Ability to work in English
- Bilingualism is an asset

**Experience, Skills and Abilities**
- Standard First Aid and CPR “C” certification
- 1-2 years' experience working in an outdoor education or camping environment
- Experience working with children with special needs, such as behavioural, cognitive, or physical
- NSL Certification, YMCA - Healthy Child Development, Fundamental Movement Skills - NCCP certification or other relevant certification will all strongly be considered as assets
- Ability to swim comfortably

**Additional Requirements**
- Must be 16 years old by June 24, 2024.
- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
- Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
