**About the role**
We are looking for a Unit Claims Manager, Property to join our team
As a Unit Claims Manager for our Property team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to a team of claims professionals. You and your team will be accountable for providing quality service, completing work processes effectively and efficiently, and continuously identifying areas of improvement.
**What you'll do here**:
- Participate in the development and implementation of business plans and manage operations to achieve key business goals
- Provide effective leadership, motivate staff and be responsible for hiring and delivering employee performance feedback
- Provide coaching on technical and professional skills for your team and facilitate continuous learning by building robust development plans for your employees
- Develop, recommend and implement management and/or organizational initiatives to support company strategies including changes to organizational structure and process/technology improvements
- Act in a consultative and advisory capacity on claims matters such as, policy interpretation and settlement negotiation to help resolve claims-related issues
- Liaise with other claims experts on technical and administrative issues
**What you bring to the table**
- University degree/college diploma preferred
- Ongoing commitment to self-development
- A minimum of 5 years work experience in claims handling, with at least 2 years of team management experience
- Good understanding of commercial property claims, policy interpretation
- Completed or are working toward a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
- Leadership skills including the ability to motivate and coach staff to deliver results
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Self-driven attitude and an advocate of leading change
- Ability to analyse and interpret data to drive innovation
- Maintain productive business relationships and effective communication other claims teams, underwriting and vendors
