Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Associate is an integral part of the JPL Development team and provides essential support to the Director of Development to drive the FRD agenda of the JPL through the cultivation and stewardship of membership, annual giving, major gifts, planned-giving and when applicable campaigns and special events.

**Duties**
- Donor Database Management and Analysis to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to donor management best practices.
- Support the execution of FRD strategies to improve donor retention, conversion, upgrade and engagement.
- Preparation of financial reports for the Director of Development.
- Taking and transcribing minutes at regular FRD Committee Meetings.
- Provide logístical support to the Director of Development for planning and execution of fundraising projects, including event management, volunteer management, and donor stewardship.
- Support Director of Development and FRD Committee to research and develop prospect lists
- Support Director of Development in preparation impact reports.
- Support Director of Development to build strong trust-based donor relationships, working towards making the JPL a best practice model in philanthropy.
- Assist Director of Development to write cases for support and prepare grant proposal packages.

**Education, Knowledge and Skills**

EDUCATION* University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in a fundraising environment.
- Experience working with Raiser’s Edge or other donor database system.
- Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills as well as administrative, analytical and organizational skills.
- Experience developing and executing direct response appeals with strong written and verbal communications skills - a good storyteller.
- Fluency in written and verbal English; working knowledge of French.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Proficiency working with relevant computer programs and social media platforms including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Google Drive.
- Experience building, training and managing volunteer teams.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands.
- Solid donor relationship management skills with a keen understanding of, and respect for, the donor cycle and journey.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to advance cultural philanthropy.
- An enthusiastic motivated self-starter and team player with a proven track-record of working independently and collaboratively to accomplish shared goals.
- Results oriented.
- High degree of professionalism and discretion.
- Knowledge of the Jewish Community is an asset.
