**Role Summary**:
As part of the Payroll Accounting Team, the Payroll Analyst will be responsible for the management of Ceridian Dayforce general ledger set up including maintenance of accounts, earning mappings, reconciliation of trial balances, labour metrics reporting, month/year-end activities, payroll journal entries.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Reconcile, adjust, and finalize payroll journal entries for Division payrolls on per pay basis
- Conducts a variety of manual payroll calculations (e.g., merits, awards) and provides approved payments to payroll delivery team for payment
- Constantly improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process
- Assist in reviews and testing with internal and external auditors
- Reconcile and audit 3rd party remittances
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records
- Monitoring of Canada ESA and US DOL legislation and compliance requirements
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting as required by various internal/external stakeholders such as Finance and Operations and Statutory Reporting
- Analyze payroll data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, and provide insights to management for decision-making purposes
- Develop and implement audit procedures to evaluate the accuracy and completeness of payroll data, calculations, and processes
- Conduct periodic audits of payroll records, including reviewing timecards, payroll registers, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions
- Identify and investigate any discrepancies, errors, or compliance issues related to payroll, and recommend corrective actions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as HR, finance, and legal, to address audit findings and implement process improvements

**General Responsibilities**
- Support questions received in a manner that ensures employee satisfaction
- Participate in systems implementations related to payroll by defining requirements, participate in preparing test plans, and documenting test results
- Document and maintain processing instructions (run books) and maintain checklists for payroll processing
- Excellent problem-solving skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines

**Key Qualifications/Requirements**:

- University degree or College diploma in a related field or relevant experience
- Knowledge or experience with US and Canadian payroll
- Proficiency with Ceridian Dayforce
- Strong planning and organizational skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities, maintain sensitive and highly confidential information
- Very detailed oriented with a superior track record of achieving high quality results
- Advanced Excel skills for reporting, metrics, and data validation
