Reporting to the VP & GM Materials SAB/SK/MB, this position will have the opportunity to provide leadership and strategic direction for the Winnipeg area market and production. Additionally, the position will have the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of the business through the oversight of reserve acquisition, planning, sales, operations, human resources, budgets, business targets, quality control and major customer account relationships.

The **Area Manager Aggregates** is based in Winnipeg, MB.

**What you’ll get to do**
- Determine and implement the overall strategic direction for the operation to maintain a competitive position in the market.
- Proactively manage safety and health initiatives to continuously improve the company’s performance and promote the highest level of safety in the operations.
- Provide direction, guidance and support to the Sales, Operations, and Technical Services Management staff and integrative and collaborative culture inside the operations.
- Manage capital and fixed asset programs and set strategies that leverage the efficient use of those assets.
- Provide leadership and direction to the effective recruiting, training and development of the employee group.
- Develop strong relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders in the market that will assist in recognizing and adapting to changing customer needs and emerging market trends.
- Effectively participate in cross business teams and other initiatives that contribute to the achievement of the overall Northwest Region goals.
- Negotiate collective agreements and manage labour relations.
- Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, completion of required training, and monitoring compliance.
- Maintain relationships with the local community, industry organizations and regulatory bodies.

**Essential Experience and Skills**
- Post-secondary degree combined with 5+ years’ experience in a management role, preferably in the concrete & aggregate or construction materials industry.
- Advanced interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and think strategically.
- Knowledge of Concrete & Aggregate products, manufacturing process, quality control and equipment.
- Demonstrated competency in the areas of financial management, performance management, problem-solving and decision-making.
- Proficient in customer management.
- Demonstrated accountability for employee safety, health, and environmental management programs.
- Proficient computer skills and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

- Role operates in a mix of office setting, manufacturing and at job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
