**Your Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager, Landscape Restoration, this position is responsible for planning and implementing reforestation projects with interested watershed landowners. This position also works closely with the Coordinator, Forestry; Project Managers; and Coordinator, Restoration and Development Monitoring to advance reforestation opportunities on CH-lands.
- Coordinate and deliver the tree planting program and reforestation initiatives on Conservation Halton, municipal and private lands
- Prepare and administer contracts related to tree planting and reforestation activities
- Supervise contractors, Conservation Halton staff, and volunteers assisting with tree planting and reforestation activities
- Review background data including agency liaison to determine Species at Risk (SAR) and environmental constraints compliance with plan design, health and safety and other regulatory requirements
- Support administration of annual tree planting budget including invoicing and preparing financial reporting information
- Provide input to preparing funding proposals for tree planting and reforestation projects
- Liaise with landowners, staff or other agencies, and the public, as required
- Conduct site visits and field surveys to develop planting plans and/or recommendations to create or enhance forest cover and habitat across the watershed; perform survival assessments of plantings
- Support the preparation of various project correspondence including project briefs and backgrounders, external communications, and reports of a general and technical nature
- Assist with the collection and analysis of forest management and reforestation information, including invasive species, habitat assessments and restoration opportunities
- Assist in the preparation of maps/reports on technical and/or field conditions
- Communicate with internal departments/staff to update corporate databases as required
- Complete pre-field planning for projects (i.e., safety planning, mapping preparation, equipment maintenance & repair)

**Your Qualifications**:

- University Degree and/or post-secondary education in forestry or resource management
- 3+ years of related forestry work experience with 2+ years of experience leading or supervising others in field work
- Eligibility for membership in the Ontario Professional Foresters’ Association is considered an asset
- Experience working with landowners to develop tree planting plans
- Knowledge of tree planting procedures, silvics, and terrestrial ecosystems
- Strong understanding of equipment employed by contractors for reforestation and competent in the use of equipment for tree planting
- Seed Collector Certification and Ontario Pesticide Training and Certification are considered assets
- Strong knowledge of Ontario’s tree and shrub species, habitat preferences, invasive species, and identification skills
- Experience in preparing tree planting plans, administering a planting program, and monitoring.
- Experience in risk management, contractor on-site management, and planting equipment operation
