SUMMARY

The Trade Lane Manager (TLM) is responsible for driving sustainable growth on the assigned trade lane(s) in ocean freight. The TLM influences and aligns the trade lane strategy and day-to-day sales activities, ensures knowledge transfer between the product, operations, and sales organization; steers the TEU, and CBM volumes according to DSV’s trade lane specific carrier commitments as well as profitable goals. The TLM acts as a primary contact for Sales counterparts on the specific trade.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Propose and reach agreement on objectives and strategies for respective trade lane market development.
- Co-ownership of master trade lane business plans: in alignment with counterparts overseas and Canada Trade Lane Management team
- Responsible for achievement of annual Trade Lane targets: Volume, Gross Profit, and win ratio.
- Primary Trade sales contact and responsible to grow the volume in ocean on appointed Trade Lane
- Identify and prioritize accounts based on targeted commodities and lane segments.
- Promote and market DSV’s ocean freight services to/from respective trade lane in alignment with local sales organization.
- Organize and support product training.
- Support and act as escalation point for branch level operations on commercial topics with ocean carriers and any operational issues which cannot be solved through branch level escalation.
- Provide and disseminate market intelligence to stakeholders of respective trade lane (local sales organization, Trade Lane management as well as local procurement, etc.)
- Coordinate Trade Lane pricing policies with the Branches to support market competitive pricing.
- Pricing review with Tender Management for all applicable Trade Lane tenders
- Cargo steering functionality for trade lanes
- Regularly monitor Trade Lane performance and service activities and suggest improvements or corrective actions.
- Quarterly feedback to Management team on Trade Lane performance and outlook for next quarter
- Liaise with and cultivate overseas Trade Lane development partnership.

- Supports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification - Montreal location.
- Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety, and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.
- Staff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
- A college certificate or degree in international trade, transportation, logistics, or a related field is beneficial.
- Equivalent industry experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in logistics and transportation.
- Specifically, 3-4 years of experience in ocean transportation is often preferred or required.
- Possession of certifications such as CIFFA (Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association) can be an asset. Other relevant certifications in transportation and logistics may also be valued.

Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of ocean freight logistics and supply chain management.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for dealing with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions to optimize trade lane operations.
- Familiarity with international trade regulations and compliance requirements.
- Leadership qualities to effectively drive performance.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in the industry.
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, industry trends, and regulatory environments.
- Willingness to travel, if necessary, to oversee trade lane operations or engage with clients and partners.

Language and Computer Skills
- English is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations.
